March content club - which to choose?
So apparently March/April's Content Club giveaway is one free sound bank from AAS. Does anyone have any recommendations on any of them?

I'm really curious as to why they give away stuff from other companies instead of their own stuff? Maybe we'll get a free version of Reaper one month.

I've been using AAS Player for a couple of years now and have a few soundbanks already. Cardinals, Cinematheque, Kitnetix and the free swatches to name some. All good stuff. As far as what bank to choose depends on what you're into. I'm going for either Journeys or Entangled Species, leaning more towards the latter.

I'm not complaining :-) It'll be hard to pick the collection. I just downloaded the free samples with it's included 64-bit player/synth. All I can say is that it works. I'm interested in samples like this as models to try and recreate them using my available synths. I'm feeling slighty patriotic, these guys are in my front yard, so to speak. Thanks in advance to Cakewalk, this content club is like having Christmas several times a year. Just the thing to keep us alive until the spring.

I got Journeys a while back, and like it very much. The sounds are unique, and very well done..

I'm not complaining either............ Ok, I sort of am. So far for me the content club has had nothing for me. The strings were nice and did get installed but I already had EWQLSO. Groove 3 was awesome but I already have a year pass. It didn't go to waste as I donated to a friend who got some good use from it. Not a loop user and have no idea what I would ever use more synth sound samples for when I don't use the synth's I have. I did open Z3TA and Dim-Pro and fiddled around for a while once. Just not my cup of tea. When they are available send me a PM and the first one I receive can have mine. Still I'd like to thank Cake for the freebie idea in general. Actually a nice gesture. Mike

since I have string studio, I'm leaning towards Journeys and Entangled. As for the question of why Cakewalk has offered freebies from third parties...don't look a gift horse in the mouth. My guess is either these companies are donating these things or offering a ridiculously discounted fee to take advantage of Cakewalk's user base. For those that have these things or have no use for them...*shrug*, but I'm sure many will find good use for them. I'm already pondering the sounds in Journey for an upcoming project.

Hmmm... I only have the free Swatches set which I haven't user in a while - I'll have to do so as a reminder. Since Journey seems to keep coming up my decision may have been made a little easier.

I am looking at Journeys too. I also like the funk swatches. The player is free and it comes with something like 96 presets. They are a collection of 96 presets of swatches from the various swatches packages available. It will be fun to play with them when I get time.

I'm leaning towards the Cardinals bank myself.
I can see that this offer is good for AAS as I'm already lusting after more of their stuff.
But I still have several thousand sounds to go through that I got with Sonar and off a couple of free websites.

mumpcake So apparently March/April's Content Club giveaway is one free sound bank from AAS. Does anyone have any recommendations on any of them? There are some samples available to listen to on the AAS Website - scroll down to the Sound Bank Series area and click on the link to each individual bank. Some really nice sounding stuff there for sure. There's also a free Swatches bank on there to download - you just have to sign up for their newsletter emails. The (free) AAS Player is included with this bank, so you can have it all installed and ready to play whichever bank you get as part of the Content Club.

I'm really curious as to why they give away stuff from other companies instead of their own stuff? Simple: 1) Because Cakewalk is in business to sell their own stuff. That's how they make money. 2) Because other companies will give Cakewalk free samples to give away so that Sonar users will go buy their stuff. I never heard of AAS until now so I'm off to go check out their stuff.

Got the free swatches player. Many very nice sounds. Not quite up there with the Alchemy player but very good and some are quite different from the "Taste of Camel" that I got this week. Can't decide which sound bank to choose either. Cardinal, Journeys, Cinematheque and Entangled Species are the ones I will most likely choose from.

i got the swatches and the player when i saw this was coming up. frankly i was amazed in a bad way that a company like aas that makes some neat modelers would have such a bare-bones player. not a single parameter you can adjust besides volume??? really??? when you look at free players like alchemy and the native-instruments line, they provide lots of parameters you can adjust to the soundbanks they provide for free. i think it's a bit chintzy. i guess part of the reason i feel like that regarding aas is that they bundled full versions of strum acoustic, lounge lizard and ultra analog (each costing 99 bucks) with my $60 korg nanopad2. i'm just kinda going hrm?

You are exactly right about player. No effects mix or anything else but volume. There are some pretty nifty sounds here, though not tweakable at all.
