Mark and Freddy do Hendrix
Hi everyone - it's been a while - I hope all are well. My buddy Fred Webb FreddyJ) and I just dfinished this Hendrix tune. Freddy played bass and did the vocals - I did the guitars and programmed the drums. Hendrix is my favorite player - I really love everything he did. This is a blues tune of his called Catfish Blues. I hope you all enjoy this as much as we enjoyed doing it. Thanks Freddy and thanks for those of you that take the time to take a listen.

Hi, Mark and Freddy, Dynamite job on this very cool Hendrix cover! I love the bluesy guitar tone, Mark's playing is super tasty, as always, and Freddy really did a killer job on the vocals and bass. By the way, Mark, "The Ballad of Ricky and Sam" on your Soundclick is really excellent, too! Super collab, guys, some mighty fine work! Bob

Very fine job. I like the way you chose one of his lesser known songs because Hendrix is so often overlooked as a blues player, though he was one of the best of his day.

Ricky and Sam was how I met Mark. It was fun and the first thing I played with him. The Pogue did the vocals. Mark and Freddy, this came out nice! Glad to see they fixed those fingers, Mark. Freddy did a better vocal on this than I could have. It works well!

You captured the best of the essence of both Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Remarkable really. Outstanding job boys.

Actually you are not covering a Hendrix song but a Robert Petway tune. I would guess that you never listened to the original. OK, but you probably were basing your rendition on Hendrix' version. That' OK. The version here lacks the raw power of Jimi's rendition. The guitar tones seem really thin and lack a lot of emotion. I hate to break the news, but Jimi you're not. In fact not even close. I hear a lot of doodling in the blues scales. My constructive suggestion is to work on the tone a bit to pull some of the expressiveness out of the guitars. I would also suggest not trying to be Jimi and to be yourself. Finally I recommend listening to the original.

I absolutely loved this! And that was before Fredaaaaaay started singing? He fits perfectly into this... In fact, I found myself rocking back and fourth Side to side, waiting for his vocals to kick back in. Some people are suited to certain parts? I believe both you and he were born to do this song...

Pete - you're probably more right than you are wrong - but I don't really care - I play strictly for the fun of it - Freddy and I had a great time doing this song together. At some point - you need to stay away from being the master of the obvious. Try to come up with an original thought. And relax dude - try to just enjoy yourself.

Bayoubill - Like it or not, I simply gave a listen and provided my opinions and feed back and was not making fun. You should realize that like is too short to hold grudges, get over it and go on. Like Mark said, relax and enjoy yourself. I know I am.

Pete, who are you again? I mean, not what are you because we all know what you are; rude and insulting lacking the talent to do anything but dis others. Must be a fun job and so satisfying. Mark has never claimed to be anyone but Mark and that's good enough for me. You, sir, are a ***k.

Pete you earned my attitude! It took time. Back when you fired at me, 05' or 6'i think, It didn't bother me at all but when you returned recently and started subtlely started laying down your comments to some of the fine work here I took offense. You, sir, are a ***k!

I've never seen Pete give a reasonably decent review to anyone that was once a part of the Guitar Tracks forum all over that realtek soundcard that didn't work well with GT. It's pretty plain to see who holding grudges here and 6 years is sure a long time to hold one. Isn't it about time to burry that hatchet Pete?
