Maschine 1.8 Host Transport Control Working in Sonar?
Hi Maschine owners, unless you've been living under a rock for the past day or so, you've probably already installed the 1.8 update. Has anybody gotten the host transport control to work in Sonar? I've tried setting it up as an ACT MIDI controller, and various Mackie controller types, but it's not working for me. And, yes, I've activated the Host Transport Control in the Control Editor. Any suggestions?

I have not got it working either... i setup the controller as a mackie control template, and enabled host control, then setup a mackie control surface in Sonar with maschine in/out.. and it gets hung up on "connecting".....

I got it working by doing the following: Preferences > MIDI > Control surfaces. Add a new surface selecting ACT, Input: Maschine, Output: None. Deselect WAI........................ next go Utilities > ACT MIDI 1, or select the Controller Surface Properties from the ACT module on the controller pane. With buttons 1-4 being Play-Shift and 5-8 being Restart-Grid I set mine up like this: http://snag.gy/1sIvI.jpg from using the default preset. Use the options tab to assign functions to buttons and then click the empty row under the function to MIDI learn by pressing the button on Maschine. Works fine, but whether it becomes part of my work flow remains to be seen.

Thanks for that perfectprint! I'll give it a try after work this evening and report back. @Mystic38 - that's interesting, because I've tried setting it up the same way and did not even get any indication that it was trying to connect. Hmmmm....

The way I understand it is you switch to midi mode (via shift control on mashine) Then shift, arrow right or left to the Mackie control template, then set up a Control surface (preference, Midi, control surfaces, Mackie Control Input Port Maschine, Output port maschine) Not sure if this works yet though. Haven't had time to check.

According to what it says it should work as is when inserted as a VST. "• Host Transport Control: If Maschine is run as a plug-in, the hardware transport controls can be used with the host"

Called NI tech support, they were no help with the Sonar Transport control. He suggested opening the Controller editor and selecting the HOST control button. He also suggested the Mackie controller. Can't get them to work though.

Until someone can confirm mackie control protocol working with Sonar, a solution is to use Sonar ACT and program the ACT template for maschine with midi learn.. I have used the following assignments B1: Maschine "Restart" to Sonar "go to start" B2: Maschine "Play" to Sonar "play/stop" B3: Maschine "<" to Sonar "go to previous marker", or "go to previous measure" B4: Maschine ">" to Sonar "go to next marker", or "go to next measure" B5: Maschine "Erase" to Sonar "record" B4 is dependent on whether you use Markers or not B5 depends on your workflow... regards,

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Thanks for this. It works for Maschine 2 + Studio. However I couldn't get B3 and B4 with any buttons with arrows on them (or jog wheel). However don't you find it is unresponsive when pressing buttons? ie. You have to "double click" the maschine buttons to get it to work every time? Cheers...
