[SOLVED] Maschine 2.7.7 problem in Cakewalk by BandLab

yesterday, i was attempting to use Maschine inside Cakewalk, as i would have inside Sonar Platinum.  i instantiated Maschine 2.7.3 via the Synth Rack, and then opened up a Maschine project so that i could record some tracks in Cakewalk to go along with the Maschine beat.  i armed the new audio track and pressed the record button.  Cakewalk would fail to record.  the first beat of the metronome's lead-in would sound and then stop dead in its tracks.  however, if i just pressed 'play' the project would play as expected.  i know the work-around here is to just export the audio tracks out of Maschine and then import them into Cakewalk, but i figured i'd post here to see if anyone else was also having this problem.

Have you found a work around? I don't even see the option to run maschine in cakewalk by band lab.

Maschine just updated to 2.7.7 and it is still quite broken in Sonar when used as a vst.  i guess since this problem isn't happening with other DAWs, this is a Cakewalk problem.  is Cakewalk working with Native Instruments to fix this? or is Native Instruments not working with Cakewalk because they don't like Cakewalk's pricing structure?  it will be disheartening if the latter is the case

This may be related to the last Windows update breaking Komplete Kontrol as a plug-in.

do you think Cakewalk is working on a fix w/Microsoft & Native Instruments, or do you think Cakewalk has lost its clout with other companies?

I've been in touch with NI about this so we are working with them. The problem appears to be system related rather than Cakewalk since it happened after a windows update with no changes to Cakewalk. The logic of "it doesn't happen in X therefore it must be a bug in Y" is not always the most sound way to troubleshoot. In this case the problem affects more than one DAW and is solved by installing the latest Windows 10 updates. Here is a thread referencing it being fixed by a windows update.

For reference, when opening the Windows Update assistant, you should see the following update available:
Windows 10 Version 1803 Cumulative Update KB4340917
After installing this update, restart your machine, then launch Cakewalk by BandLab.

We're still to understand why the update affected Maschine.

Windows Update showed my computer was up to date. It's only by coming to this forum that I a) knew there was an update, and b) that it could fix the issue.
