Maschine and Sonar
Hello, Has anyone been able to get Maschine to work as a midi controller for Kontakt in Sonar. Maschine works fine as a plug in, but I am trying to re-map it to work with a Kontakt Sample bank and it won't work. I have re-mapped using the NI Controller software, but still no luck as far as controlling Midi in Sonar. thanks for all your suggestions. JL
Intel Core i7 3.07Ghz, 12 Gigs RAM, 64 bit OS, Sonar Producer 8.52, RME Multiface II and PCIe interface, Maschine, Fractal Axe-FX, Sonic Implants Library, TC Fireworx, Voiceworks, BFD2, SD2, Stylus RMX, Trillian.

DSProductionz Did you ever get Maschine to work with Sonar? I just got it an I cannot get it to work at my Controller... I have set it up but it just says "connecting..." I use Maschine almost all the time now, but I'm not sure what you guys are trying to do. IF I understand correctly, you're trying to use Maschine as a "controller" .... which means you have to put in CONTROL mode. Unless I'm missing something, that might be what you're looking for? I don't use it to control other plugins though (I have many ways to do that). BTW, there's a really great Maschine 1.5 Hardware Quick Reference Guide available on the NI forums. It's a sticky in the Mashcine forum area. It might help out to get it.

I have a template I use , I set up my machine, wired into sonar, I am able to trigger midi notes via my keyboard or the machine controller. I can either make my patterns using machine then I drag the midi pattern into the correct channel, that I had set up before or arm the midi track and play live with maschine or via keyboard, Into that midi lane. Ok When you launch Maschine make sure you enable midi out, otherwise it wont work .. You can use 1 audio out or seperate audio outs for each channel, Its very simple, but I had set up a template , just so I dont have to map it out every time.. In Sonar after you inserted Maschine as a vst and enabled midi out remember that, Sonar makes a simple instrument track , at this point I insert another midi track and then I go to properties make sure midi in goes to the correct channel your using in maschine for instance the first sound is channel 1 so midi in is channel 1 and the out goes to maschine.. Thats what you have to do for each midi track, In order for you to have a seperate audio channels for each midi track you have to insert an audio track and reroute the outs to maschine,, but you have to go into mashine and choose which out you wanna use for each lane. Do it once save as a template, OH By far Best Piece Of GEAR I bought In Years.. I use it all the time,, I only load up session drummer now to trigger sidechains . and I never use the step sequencer either, Nor do I use beatscape anymore , and as a sampler its awesome ripping apart a loop has never been easier , Never need recycle ever again.. and the efx I love em , and the marco controls under your synth rack well , makes for a clean straight forward process in automation.. NI has Done it again....

I made this tutorial for anyone who wants to use Sonars sequencer with NI Maschine only as a sound source while still being able to use the Maschine controller or a keyboard controller. http://youtu.be/DylihYvYuUI
