Maschine

I just watched the start of the video with no sound and I already want one. Here's my standard question for all products like this - does it have 16 levels and Full Level features - like the MPCs?

    Nick P,

You're an amateur buddy!!! If you were a big boy, you would check out MOTU's BPM (Beat Production Machine). It's pure software despite the picture (which is just for eye candy), but far more "Beat" oriented than Maschine. If you ever used Fxpansion GURU, BPM is that on Steroids. Plus it imports UVIsoundcards, Mach5 libraries, and more. Watch THEIR video!!! You will get a hard on!!!

    JAB3

    Sincerely,
    JAB3

There is a new forum structure. Maschine (a non-Cakewalk hardware product) discussions go in http://forum.cakewalk.com/tt.asp?forumid=8 since you are not asking about it in any relation to Project5 on this forum.

The 'engine' in the BPM is made by the Ultimate Soundbank guys - I think anyway - UVI Workstation people?

Maschine seems overpriced, though it is cool. Seems completely sample-based as well, so not as flexible as say, BPM. About BPM: It requires iLok, and I had Mach Five 2 for a little while and it has graphics issues on PC's. (I ended up selling it to a Mac user.) Also MOTU's tech-support is almost nonexistant...

Having said that, BPM does look sweet, in fact it looks like what I was hoping Guru 2 would be...but I'm still passing.

mmmmm software integrated hardware (i know it can be stand alone btw) - how about this for all us Live users.......

    Akai Live Controller

Investment by a major hardware manufacturer - producing nice tools for cool software - can anyone think of where else this philosophy could be employed???

Ha, indeed Cake had a good idea with Sonar V-Studio...but there's just a wee little price difference, eh? ($400 vs $4,000). Granted the Cake hardware comes with more, but which price range is more likely to inspire sales of its general userbase? I guarantee the Akai's will be hard to keep in stock! And with Live's Max integration, the Akai can be configured to do whatever the user wants...

Bob, I would assume these units could be used with Project5 just like any other NI software. Does mean that we can't discuss Battery 3 as relates to Project5? Or Fm-8, Or whatever?

To get the most of Project 5, even in its current state, I need some type of pad controller. So once again, I would argue that this is a Project5 issue, since I'm a Project5 owner and user.

Yeah, I need to check it out. I thought it was only usable with DP, which I don't use (but would consider).

BTW, anyone have any info about Full Level and 16 Levels on either of these pieces?

Ah...so you want to use it as a controller for Project5. That makes more sense and is on topic even.

but it's my understanding that those pads aren't velocity sensitive!

i know people are excited about this because of the akai name, but after looking into this more, you might be better off with a trigger finger and some user configuration.

Gonna resurrect this old thread and say... you guys should give Maschine another look. It's destroying the MPC in every possible way. I LOVE mine. For hip-hop production and sample chopping, nothing comes close to it. I've made some amazing beats with it, and I've only just begun.
