MassTurboTar in Sonar X1 and X2

I purchased Sonar X1 some time ago and was able to use the MassTurboTar synth VST in it. I recently upgraded to X2 and now I can't get it to recognize that same VST synth. Has anyone been able to get this particular synth recognized in X2? Is there anything I can do other than rescanning my VSTs etc to get Sonar to see ALL my VSTs? MassTurboTar didn't throw an error when I was scanning my VST folders (and I'm certain this synth is within my VST folders).

It would be cool to have the option of dragging and dropping VSTs into Sonar etc.

Thanks in advance!!

make sure your choosing the correct menu first.
you can do this by selecting:insert/audio plugins/rather than scrolling through yout plug ins go over to plugin layouts.
make sure you didnt accidently create a new PI menu,i think there 2 menus,im not sure.
    sonar X2 or Default plugins

also make sure its in the right vst folder,it may scan even though its in the wrong folder, what i mean is.if its 32 bit and you dropped it in the 64 bit vst plugin folder.

I'm using the default 'All VSTs' layout. I went into the layout editor and it shows up in the Registered VSTs list in that dialog so I added it to a custom layout, but when I select that layout it doesn't show there.

Strange that it works just fine with Sonar X1. Of course Alieno is like that too - it shows up in my list but crashes X2 any time I try to view its UI.

I know VSTs cause grief in every DAW, it's just frustrating when it happens to instruments that have been stable, well behaved, awesome synths in every DAW I've used except X2.

    BTW:
I keep all my VSTs in a custom directory (c:\VST Plugins) and all my synths are in folders according to their names (A, B, C... etc) and I double checked that it was in there and it is.

Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully I can get it to show, I don't want to have to drop down to X1 any time I want to use it.

You may want to use the VSTi layout. If its a synth its a VSTi not a VST.

Ugh you've GOT to be kidding me. Now the Cakewalk soundfont player VST is gone from my menu ?!?! I just finished a song that used it now it's completely gone. This is beyond frustrating, I haven't moved my VSTs or changed anything.

When I mess around with layouts then select a layout from the Insert menu - I end up with a completely blank Insert menu.

Have I wasted my money on Sonar? I'm a struggling artist I can't afford to be dropping money on an expensive DAW that can't even see my VSTs - I have FREE trackers that can handle VSTs better than this :/

Sorry to vent but I'm stuck, I can't continue with the song I'm working on.

So I can get the Soundfont Player to show up in the plugins panel (where there is the Media, Plugins, Synth tabs) - but I can't use it in my project. There is no right click menu - and when I drag it onto my project nothing happens. It still doesn't show in my Insert menu     ):/

Another update - if I have an existing instrument track (in this case with track events), I CAN drag the 'missing' VSTs from the Plugins panel onto that track and the 'missing' VST UI pops up and the existing events no longer produce any sound etc. But when I go to view that track's instrument UI, the originally assigned instrument UI pops up. So it doesn't seem to be fully replacing the old instrument - it just destroys the one that was there prior.
