Thanks guys! I even had a professional do my mastering on this new project but I don't think his sounds as good as mine. My issue is that on some spots I get a static sound on the lead vocal. It is not like it is actually clipping. I tried everything to get rid of it. In the mix you don't hear so I know it is in the mastering. I am using Cakewalk Homestudio 2004 for my recording. I sing Gospel Music and as of yet I have not seen a post on the forums of anyone else doing Gospel with Homestudio. It is much different from other styles. My projects get radio play so they need to be in your face as mastering should do. How far can I go with Cakewalk Homestudio without actually using the T Racks. I don't think I can get it loud enough without mastering. Any help is appreciated. P.S What is a DAW? CRV

It's a common term for any computer used for audio editing or mixing.

I like the Compression section of T-Racks for some things and the Clipper can be useful sometimes, but I hate the EQ and the Limiter. The Limiter sucks all life out of the sound and the UI of the EQ is just horrible.

My issue is that on some spots I get a static sound on the lead vocal. Sorry, but I'm very much with Rod (nprime) and Frank (ohhey) on this one. I guess a lot depends on the style of music. I'd be surprised if T-Racks was any good for Gospel - it's too much like what I call real music! You really need something that handles the dynamics and subtleties, especially vocals, with kid gloves while compressing. Doesn't sound like you want T-Racks to me! I'd suggest you at least have a look at Ozone Izotope - you can download a demo (and a really good free manual that you'll find useful whether you end up using Ozone or not). Experiment with it, but don't use it as a Sledgehammer! Be gentle and subtle. I don't think it's perfect but at that price if I had to choose between Ozone and T-Racks then for me there's no contest. http://www.izotope.com/ Best, Geoff
