Mastering the final step

I really knew to recording music so I'm learning what it takes to complete a project. One thing I heard and read that has to be done when recording is finished and all the edits are made is mastering a cd. What is mastering and how do you go about doing that. Can it be done with mc or do I need to use pyro. Please explain to me the step by step process for mastering a project.

Thanks,

Curtis

Read the following thread on mastering, especially the information by YEP. Very useful information.

One thing to consider with that very useful info that BB has posted, mastering can be done right where the tracks are, make sure first that they are clean and well mixed, then make sure that you do not over proces, then get a good solid finished track that does not clip and has a good clean sound, and do not fall into the trap of worrying about the volume level.
