Masterwriter email

Did anyone else get the email from Cakewalk about Masterwriter? I think Herb uses it.
Fifty dollars off version 3.0, which is web-based.

yes, I got it.  and yes, Herb uses it.

I tried it a long time ago and didn't find it particularly worthwhile for myself.  especially for the price.

It's a subscription, so it's really $4.95 per month, for 1 year. Then you have to buy in again.

it wasn't a subscription when I tried the demo, it was a purchase with free updates for a year.

yes I have it and use it. I find it handy mostly for looking up rhyming words and phrases to kind of kick start some new directions in a lyric. Its also handy for cataloging songs and the Songuard service.

They have gone to a subscription based model now.... you get the updates as they release them.  Version 2, which I have, was the last one you could pay for in full. My Songuard service still works. I get their emails and ads but will probably not jump into the subscription model.

There are a bunch of free sites and phone apps now that will do the rhyming dictionary thing at no cost.  As far as Songuard service...... no one wants to steal my songs anyway....

I'm sure some folks will find the new MW3.0 perfect for them.

I have the windows version. I will not go the subscription version.

I've used it on a few songs when I was "stuck" for an idea to finnish a verse or two. It was helpful.

If you can't afford the Master version, is there an Apprentice version as well?
