Mattress.... back... hurt... good early morning.

I don't usually get up this early but every day is a new day!
I bought a new mattress last year. Got a good one from the Original Mattress Factory... not good enough for me I guess. I woke up before 5:00 AM with low back pain, couldn't lay there anymore. Thank God for vicoprofen and Voltaren gel.
I think I need to try an even better mattress. I have been wanting a Select Comfort but my wife worries that she wont be able to adjust it right... she would rather try a Temperpedic but I wonder if it will be hot and I cannot adjust it if I don't like it... what to do?? Has anything helped you, if you have had back pain? Maybe today will be a good day to write some blues... cept, I really don't have the blues. I'm ok, just a little pain... heck, at least I'm not as old as I feel!

Thanks...

Actually, I'm only up because I'm dealing with work issues (as in, haven't been to bed yet!), but I've dealt with back pain and might be able to send you some interesting reading.

Plus, I have a Temperpedic (the adjustable model) and, well, you'll want one if you ever try one - lol!

    Unfortunately, they are NOT cheap!

Anyway, I'll upload the info and PM you the link.

Sorry to hear about the back problems.  I'm due for a new bed, too.  Hopefully, I'll be able to get one pretty soon.  I don't want to do it just yest as I've had some some bills to pay that I have to deal with first.

I'm in a cubicle.  They don't like it when I stretch out on the desk and try to get in a little nap.  I'm not sure, but it may have something to do the sleep attire.

we bought a temperpedic "clone" about 4 years ago and I got to hating it lately, I couldn't sleep.  I was afraid to buy a real temperpedic as a replacement because I was afraid it would be the same as the clone for me.

I bought a posture-pedic with the individual wrapped coils and a latex topper.  we also bought the dual adjustable king size and I can adjust my head up some which I tend to sleep better that way.

    It was only $3500.  (ouch)

For me the soft beds are bad for my back. I need a semi-firm mattress. I have been banished from my regular sleeping area for snoring. I have a cpap but hate to wear the thing.

Turned out to be the best thing for me because the bed in our other room is firmer and I noticed my back pain going away moving away from the softer bed. The jabs in my side at 3am went away too.

If you had said that you had a pain in your butt, then I would have instantly known the cause.

I read once that the most common cause of lower back pain is constipation.

i bought a memory foam mattress from Costco.

Used to have shoulder pain etc. from my old traditional pillow top box spring (not a cheapy).  Now I wake up with no pains.

Also I use a buckwheat pillow...no more neck pain.

Auto_da_fe, how long have you had that Costco mattress, and which one is it (they advertise several)?

I am in very real need of a new mattress myself for the same back pain reason, but could never afford a $3500 one, or even a $1000 one - simply not in my economic reality.

My old memory foam was from Ikea (was not one of their top-grade ones) and it has given out after three years or so.  What I don't need to do is get something new and have it give out in another three years.

So the meds for the upper back pain indirectly cause the ower back pain... great...

Our old mattress was a "double pillow top"... that was a huge mistake. It felt great in the store but after a while there is nothing you an do. I try side sleeping but at some point I end up on my back. Stay far away from pillow top mattresses. The one we have now is on the firm side... but of course as soon as we got it home my wife said it was hard and went and bought a feather bed to put on it...

Getting old is better than the alternative... up to a point, I think.

Not sure exactly which one sorry...got it online.  Queen size (my wife and I are not large people) and it was 800 (on sale - delivered).

We have had ours for 2 years and it is still like the day we bought it, but I am pretty sure it has a 10 yaer warranty on it.

That is all i remember.  Sorry, wish I could remember more.
