May not be as hot as Beagle's New Toy...

But makes a world of difference to me. The little Mackie arrived earlier this week.

Didn't get to play with it all that much, my lovely lady being home sick with a bad cold, I took the opportunity to spend time with her.

But being able to adjust a headphone mix and add a bit of reverb for monitoring only without having to go through software will definitely be nice. Not having to constantly plug and unplug things will be a nice bonus. And the ability to filter out unwanted frequencies on the way in is something I've been looking forward to, especially when using the POD HD, which tends to have so much unnecessary low end.

I realized a while ago that I'd much rather spend money on hardware than plug-ins as even the most inexpensive thing usually makes a whole lot more difference than owning 42 different software EQ. Well, as long as it doesn't degrade the signal anyway.

Eventually, I'll probably add one of those RNC compressor and maybe even an outboard Lexicon reverb.

But first, those bass traps. :P

ProFX8. Reviews were so so but for my purpose, I knew it would work.
