Thanks to Mesh for the video thumbnail link tip!

I have been polishing this turd since 2012. Lemme know if I missed a spot!

Thanks for the listens and crits !

My kind of tune.  Long but not boring. Extended instrumental bridge.  Interesting lyrics.  Great polishing job.  It shines!

I think the drums could come up some Tom. Otherwise, you're gold.

Really like that opening guitar riff and bass. Great tones too.

Nice sounding guitars.  Like the tone.  Nice production and it sound great.  So you are singing about the Mayans which is quite an unusual subject.

    Tom,

I remember this one. I liked it then and I like it now. Very polished, but certainly not a  turd.

Sounds pretty seamless to me. Cool pop-rock groove. It sounds like you obsessed over this one as much as Steely Dan obsessed over their late seventies/ early eighties projects which your song kind of reminds me of.

    Cheers,

That was a really cool groove to the song, and I liked your vocal.  Nice guitar solo - the tone made me think of Steely Dan.  Overall I liked the song - well done - good mix too.

Wayfarer Bill, good call on them drums, I found spots where they needed a booster. Thanks!

Vicente Vechung, the Mayan "Apocalypse" was so overblown in the leadup to 2012 I found it interesting, and started a song. I probably should have alloted more lead time. :) thanks!

Bert, thanks, I'll take a Steely Dan reference any time, at least musically. Glad you liked it and thanks for the re-listen!

Doug, thanks! I'm not a gifted guitarist but I recently added the Kuassa Caliburn to the pile, and it's sounds pretty good to my ears.

Absoflippinlutely excellent stuff.  The performance, arrangement, mix, vocals, and anything else I may have forgotten are all top notch!!!  Love the flute sound in this.  Rather an unusual topic for a song, but being an amateur anthropologist, I really enjoyed this.  The lyrics were excellent.

Really dynamite song and super cool video!

Great songwriting, excellent playing of all the instruments, (love the guitar work and keys), knockout vocals with fun concept lyrics, and amazing creativity on the video!

The mix sounds perfect, top quality all the way, brother.

Super stuff, buddy, really well done!

    Loved it.

Very nice transitions from section to section, and while they're all different it's still cohesive with a nice prog vibe.  And the humor on top is the icing on a fine cake.

Oh... what was that lead sound in the break around 2:50?  Can't tell if it's a synth or guitar... nicely organic.

Tom, I love this video and song.  My daughter in law is Guatemalan, therefor, she has Mayan blood running through her.  I have visited several Mayan ruins in Guatemala and Mexico, so this theme interests me very much.  Leave it to you to be unpredictable.

This is excellent!  Great humor in the lyrics and media (the weather forecast of 1,250 degrees for Friday is a hoot!)  It has great variations throughout and is very original.  All of the musicianship is solid.  The Steely Dan and CTD comparison is apt, which is saying something.

If I was going to change anything, i would bring the drums up a bit in volume and maybe give the vocals more space with reverb and/or delay...but I am probably the last one that should give mix advice because my ears tend to change on every listen.

In any case, top notch and put a smile on my face for sure!
