Me new fave band

I just discovered these guys...they are thoroughly awesome and this whole album is amazing. A lot of the songs incorporate an amazing Balkan horn section. Beautifully recorded too. I love them.

I wonder if you'd like my friends band 'The Miserable Rich'. They are like Round Mountain, but along with some of your other postings, I think you'd like.

    Hi,

I kinda liked the 1000 sitars better ... I wonder if 1000 guitars would sound as good?

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Thanks, I like that a lot. I love to hear new music (new to me). I tire of hearing the same songs over and over very quickly.

It reminds me of how MAD I am at GPB (I cannot stand them). They managed a takeover of WRAS, Georgia State University radio. It used to be Album88 and they played mostly new music. I'd tune in and hear music like this regularly and look it up. Of course they had other specialty programs but it was completely student run and gave a lot of people a start in broadcasting. Now I turn it on and get this: "All things considered" BS and it REALLY ticks me off. I think WRAS now has internet radio but it isn't the same, I forget about it. It isn't as easy as pressing a button on the Pioneer in my truck.
They were operating on FM 88.5 live over the last weekend and the as the DJ was finishing his show he commented how great it was to be "on air" because of the phone call requests and comments that he doesn't get when "streaming" the show.
You might try finding them online, they are always playing either really good or really bad music, according to your likes and dislikes, lol.. but always something new.

I will be on the lookout for more of Round Mountain. I'm sure I'll like The Miserable Rich too, I'll listen. The secnd song reminds me a little of Camper Van Beethoven, less ska but still, it has that feel. Maybe it is the accordion.

    Thanks again!

The Miserable Rich remind me of Counting Crows (that is about as good a compliment as I can give a band).

Lead singer (James) of the Miserable Rich, reminds me of Tim Buckley. I don't hear the counting crows connection, especially being they just have one guitar, and no drums on their early work, apart from the occasional snare played with finger. More of a String quartet sound, with a guitar as one of the strings.

I mean the feel. The singer reminds me in his phrasing, at least in that song. For me, it is definitely more of a "feel" sort of thing.

BTW, Round Mountain is on Spotify. We listened to the newest album last night on the porch during dinner and "porch time". I have not yet checked for the miserable rich but I went to their site and listened to more songs, they are indeed good! I don't know what that site you have to sign up for, I forget the name. I went on FB long enough to "Like" them (or maybe it was Round Mountain... I can't remember details this AM. Yesterday I worked hard, played hard, ate well, and had good company)
Thanks again (both) for the good music!
