Meadowlark Lemon, RIP

The very talented former leader of the Harlem Globetrotters has died at the age of 83. I was lucky enough to see him and the Globetrotters in 1976. He was a true entertainer. RIP...

I noticed that the other day. For some reason the Harlem Globetrotters appeared regularly on British TV in the '70's, I loved 'em. There was a bald guy called Curly IIRC.

When I was about 11 or 12, I remember seeing the Globetrotters in Vegas and was amazed at their talent. They also showed how much fun the game of basketball can be (which inspired me to play B-ball)..........very entertaining indeed. RIP ML.

Yes. RIP. I was always entertained on TV by the Globetrotters, especially Meadowlark. A real entertainer and talented basketballman.

    Hi,

Yeah, a total fun loon. A kid to the end having fun amidst everyone else.

meadowlark was one of the globetrotters who was reputedly good enough to actually play in the NBA.  If he had been born 10-15 years later he may have chosen that option. great showman.  have great memories of seeing him, Goose and Curly put on amazing shows.

When Wilt Chamberlain was asked who the best player in the world was, he said, "Believe it or not, Meadowlark Lemon."

Of course Chamberlain must have been joking when he said that...........his history with the ladies has proven whom the best "player" really was.

Maybe, but the "math" for his "history" wouldn't leave much time for doing anything else!
(And, therefore, is very questionable and, more likely, greatly exaggerated.  )
