Media Browser empty, blank

I've been using Sonar for a long time and this is finally gotten to where I can't stand it anymore. This problem has been with me since Sonar 6 and has stayed with me through upgrades and all.

The Media Browser is completely blank. Where the list of files, or icons of files, or whatever should be, there is simply nothing. I can open the Windows Explorer right from the same place and see my scads of .wav files where they should be. It's like the rightmost pane of the media browser window just doesn't quite render properly. It has a scroll bar, and it has column headers but they act squirrelly when I scroll left-to-right in the window.

Is this a known problem?

I had this exact same problem, & eventually determined it was because my primary drive was not Drive C. Indeed, I had no drive C at all ( Historically, in the past I upgraed my OS & was offered the letter E).
I added an old drive & designated it as C, and the browser then worked properly.
If this is your likely problem & you have a USB stick, you could test this potential fix quickly by plugging it in and forcing it to be drive C and see if that does the trick.

Good luck

Totally feasible. Will try it out when I get a chance. Thanks very much!

By the way, I wonder how to open this up as an official "bug" in Sonar? I'll look around and see if it jumps out at me.

ceej, thanks for the tip, that was exactly the medicine that was needed. Still think this is a no-brainer bug to file against Sonar.

Media browser fails to see "all" audio files in "every" drive unless a C Drive is present. Just a simple USB flash stick creating a "new" C Drive will magically display all files in every non-C drive with 8.5 Producer under XP.
