Media Center Edition Info

I just wanted to post this, so that any unfortunate souls (like myself) who own Windows XP "Media Center Edition," will not be left in the dark, as far as wondering if a product they have will work on their system. Personally, I own a Lexicon Lambda, which is just about the same as the Omega, (Omega has a couple more inputs, etc), but it works fine, regardless of what this list says. The list is unofficial, but isn't guarenteed. It's been made based on certain users reviews, etc. Just thought this was kind of important, and needed to be viewed by the people who own this type of windows application. Thank you. That is all!

Well ain't that a kick in the crotch. I was considering upgrading to one of the Sonar Home Studio products, and an Edirol interface. But I also know that "unsupported" does not mean it won't work. It means it may or may not work, and that if you have trouble getting it to work, there will be no help, except in a forum, maybe. Another case of someone (me) buying the latest, greatest do-everything gizmo which will, in fact, NOT do everything. Thanks for the info, Bryant. You may have saved me some money/aggravation.

Greg - do you have WINDOWS Media Edition? You do realize that's what it's talking about, right?

Not Win Mellinium Edtion or any other version, the new Media Edition that just came out this year which is shipping with a lot of Dells and others because you can control your home theater with it.

Media Center here on both computers. You can go into services.msc and shut everything "media-centeresque" and leave basically XP Pro without as much domain control. That being said, I have yet to run into a problem with it and I've left everything on. I've used an E-MU 1212m and Presonus Firepod. I think most of it's user error, but then that may just be the cynic in me.

Yes, I've got the WXP Media Center Edition 2005 (HP). Thanks for the additional info, Joe. I haven't had any problems of any sort with Pro 24, SB Extigy. Still need to check out return policies for anything I buy.

Rod...were'nt you having problems with S5 crashing on you? I seem to remember that during the CW Blues collab. Could the ME have had anything to do with that?

It could possibly, but I doubt it. Again, user errors most likely. So far, Sonar 6 is working just fine, although I have yet to put it through its paces on a large project.
