Meet Me Down In New Orleans

https://soundcloud.com/la...me-down-in-new-orleans

I arranged the song with BIAB then recorded the vocals and mixed it in Sonar.

Meet Me Down In New Orleans (8-11-2015)

You are tender as a rose/ and I am a storm
You’ve had the moonlight in your eyes/ since the day you were born
There’s a south wind blowing/ the salt air in from the sea
Meet me down in New Orleans baby/ Meet me down in New Orleans

Come hear the Paddle boat calling/ hear it’s steam whistle blow
It’s playing just for you darling/ It misses you don’t you know
Come feel the rolling Mississippi/ Come find me on St. Peters Street
Meet me down in New Orleans baby/ Meet me down in New Orleans
Meet me down in New Orleans baby/ Meet me down in New Orleans

Don’t bother bringing your umbrella/ I’ll be your shelter if it rains
And I won’t wait to read your letter/ I’m headed there right now on faith
Were all of my mistakes so binding/ Am I ever to be free
Meet me down in New Orleans baby/ Meet me down in New Orleans
Meet me down in New Orleans baby/ Meet me down in New Orleans
I’ll be waiting there for you lady / in New Orleans
Meet me down in New Orleans baby/ Meet me down in New Orleans

Very well done Lawrence on the composition, vocals, and clean/clear mix........your vocals fit the style very well and as the song kept going, your voice warmed up nicely. I'd like to hear the bass a bit louder in the mix as that'll fill the low end a bit more .....but, that's just my personal taste.

Thanks , it's always nice to know what peeps are doing to create their art . I wasn't sure if you were perhaps playing some lead guitar. I've not used BIAB before, but I heard what other peeps are doing with this amazing song writing tool.

Nice song you created too... I like your vocals

Vocals are pretty rich and wonderful. Nice job!

The reverb on the snare/drums in general doesn't quite match up with the fairly dry piano. They don't really sound like they are all in same room. I'd be tempted to dry up the drums.

thanks for the share - really well sung!

Like Tom said little less reverb on the snare but other than that you seem to have something reasonable cool going on, thanks for sharing.

Good song. the slow pace develops power as it goes along. Not sure exactly how much "help" Band In A Box gives you, but you have a better selection of instruments in Sonar. Your vocal is good -- you've got a little gravel in it I'd like to hear more of. I really like this style, and I look forward to your future projects. Like I said, I don't know anything about BIAB, but you play an instrument, right? If so, see what you can do in Sonar.

    Hi,

    Really nice work on this!

Great job on the songwriting, arranging and especially the excellent vocals.  Perfect voice for this style of music and a nice clean mix.

I agree with Tom and Wookiee about maybe changing the reverb on the drums to possibly make the overall mix gel a little better, but effects are always a subjective choice.

    Great stuff!

    Have a good one,
    Bob

Very nice song....  It's got a great vibe to it that suits the title, and your voice fits like a glove.

I bet you could get it sounding even better though if you were to redo the parts in SONAR.
