Mel O'Dyne ain't playin fair witrh X1D...
For one particular song in my latest project I need to be able to run Melodyne as a plug inside X1d with the other tracks running due to the exacting nature of this vocal. No probs. I pop up Mel, transfer the vocal track and then start painstakingly editing the vocal to fit the track without losing any of the expressiveness or "honesty" of the vocal. It takes a while but at the end it's sounding very good. I then...like I used to do before I started working outside Sonar...."apply audio effects" which also deletes Mel from the track when done. Mixdown shows as occuring and then finishes as per usual. Only no changes were written to the track. All that editing time is now kaput. Next time I guess I'll try bouncing the edited track to a new one BEFORE removing Melodyne from the track. What a dang bummer. Anyone else seen this or have any info?

I have found it best to only edit small segments at a time, not the whole vocal track at once. Then, "bounce to track". This works best for me anyway.

Yup Ol' Pal Ol' Pal, do a real time bounce, then you can do it the way you always have with the Apply FX command. It caught me by surprise too when I discovered this my self.

I'll have to add "uncheck fast-bounce" to my routine also.

There's a few plugs that SONAR doesn't play nice with on fast bounce. I always turn it off for this sort of processing. Actually I take the tracks over to Studio One and work on them there if I want to use Melodyne due to its tighter integration.

I know that no one believes me, especially with all the other issues I experience with Sonar, but I can use Melodyne almost perfectly including with fastbounce. I think it has to do with a tweak I made to my system described here: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/omp-error-15-initializing-libguide40dll-but-found-libiomp5mddll-already-initialized/ I don't know if that is why it works or its just my system, but believe me I have my share of other problems! I am tempted to post a video proving that my Melodyne works, but I hope people will believe me instead. If you don't believe me, I'll post a video but not tonight.

But I put that kludge into place months ago but it didn't stop my Melodyne Editor locking up and crashing Sonar after about five minutes' use. I first read about this Intel library issue on the Studio One forum when people were finding they couldn't have Amplitube plugged in because of the conflict with Melodyne which is always 'plugged in' in S1 due to the latter's ARA technology. For some reason the resource leak in Melodyne was not experienced by all Sonar users, as evidenced by the numerous 'yes'/'no' postings here over the last year or so. I don't know why this was. Anyway, Melodyne acknowledged the resource leak (CW confirmed it to them after receiving crash dumps for users like me) and a release is in the pipeline that includes a fix for this.

Well, I'm gonna try the "real time bounce" method. I actually edited and "applied effect" on two different tracks. The first time my dimbulbed self was deeply perplexed when after tweaking my vocal to near perfection and saying to myself, "well, hoss, you don't sound half bad after all"...then hitting "apply effect"...then playing back again and...UP JUMPED THE DEVIL!...there I was; suckin again. Ain't technology great?
