Melda plugs updated to 8.05

MeldaProduction has updated all its effect plugins to v8.05, providing several optimizations, improvements and fixes. Check this link for more information about the update.
Changes in 8.05:
  • Added select random preset button next to each all buttons.
  • Added Economy mode to MVintageRotary and MRotary, which speeds up processing in 96kHz by about 3x and 192kHz by about 10x.
  • Modulation effects now provide "LFO override" feature, which lets you directly control the modulation signal, map it to modulators, automate it...
  • Colors of all time graphs can now be configured and are stored with the settings. Settings are not stored in MMultiAnalyzer as these are overridden by track colors.
  • All time graphs now support 2 axes, left and right, both can be overridden with different axes if needed.
  • Added select-all/none feature to MMultiAnalyzer.
  • Highly improved ADSRs - added immediate release, tremolo, hold down etc.
  • Most preset buttons are now bigger and contain preset name.
  • Highly improved harmonics detection from sample in signal generators in harmonic mode.
  • Advanced parameters from modulators (step sequencer, shape...) can now be learnt to other modulators / multiparameters.
  • ADSR custom shape editor is now zoomable and contains units.
  • Randomization for banks in multiparameters now allows the standard ctrl (for slight adjustment) & alt (for full randomization) combinations.
  • Improved upsampling performance and memory consumption.
  • Band settings (even advanced) of all equalizers are now displayed permanently until you close them or open another band's settings.
  • Randomizer subpresets are now hidden.
  • MMultiBandComb, MWobbler and MComb now has buttons to enable each filter directly from the tabs in the main view.
  • Fix: The plugins might have not generated additional channels when set to convert mono/stereo -> surround.
  • Fix: When moving multiparameter banks, the values of target parameters didn't immediately update.
  • Fix: MSpectralDynamics, MDynamics, MMultiBandDynamics could stop producing sound when some specific custom attack/release settings have been used.
  • Fix: Fixed compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5.
  • Fix: ADSR custom shapes didn't update until attack/release was changed.
  • Fix: Modulators could freeze during learning.
  • Fix: MRhythmizer didn't link MIDI note-offs between different sequence types.
  • Fix: Areas editor could crash when no areas have been loaded yet in all equalizers.
  • Fix: MMultiBandConvolution could freeze when a band has been added.
  • Fix: MVintageRotary could generate loud buzz or even crash under some specific settings and hosts.
  • Fix: MLoudnessAnalyzer was showing an dysfunctional horizontal zoomer and axis in the time graph view.
  • Fix: MDynamics and MMultiBandDynamics didn't store transfer shape time graph settings.
  • Fix: All time graphs didn't show loudness units as LU but dB instead and didn't match when extensively zoomed in.
  • Fix: MMultiAnalyzer could crash in certain situations involving loudness/waveform tab.
  • Fix: MMultiAnalyzer often caused glitches on change of graphical properties.
  • Fix: MTuner didn't provide MIDI output as AAX.
  • Fix: Plugins didn't update high-quality upsampling enable change immediately.
  • Fix: MRotary and MVintageRotary didn't sound the same in different sampling rates.
  • Fix: MDynamicEq and MAutoDynamicEq band advanced settings link grid didn't update immediately.
  • Fix: MFreeformEqualizer and MFreeformAnalogEq could crash when changing the processing graph.
  • Fix: Plugins might not have presets or some other data when installed on a multi-account machine.
  • Fix: Preset name might not have stored correctly if the preset list has changed.

Thanks for the heads up, Larry. A question. Every time Melda does an update do you have to download each new plugin version or is there a way to update them all at once? It's kind of a pain to download each one. A lazy gripe, for sure.  I do love and use these plugins all the time.

To the best of my knowledge, no...unless you find a bundle that has all the plugins that you want to
update and install the bundle...and then get rid of, or not use the ones you don't own...

I updated my bundle, but MDynamic EQ and MReverb did not update to 8.05. Everything else seems to have updated. Any body else see this?  NEVER MIND!!

Is this the normal practice (uninstall/install) when doing Melda updates? or is it just for the bundles? Seems to me that the new installer should just install over the older version no?

I have not installed an individual plug-in in a while but would imagine they have the same recommendation. I seem to recall uninstalling individual plug-ins before installing new versions. From the first screen which popups up during the install process:

It is strongly recommended that you uninstall any previous version of MeldaProduction MTotalBundle and exit all probrams before processing to installation.

While not entirely necessary and must be ignored to maintain discontinued plug-ins, it still seems like good advice. The installer should install the new versions, how a pre-existing installation affects the new installation is unknown.

Band settings (even advanced) of all equalizers are now displayed permanently until you close them or open another band's settings.

This is a nice enhancement. It was annoying to have to keep bringing up the advanced dialog while tweaking settings. It should really be optional behavior, though, because if you're working on a single screen or a laptop now you'll have the annoyance of having to continually close the advanced dialog.

I also noticed a small bug, which is that the dialogs do not close when you minimize SONAR.

southpaw - I'm with you.  I have approaching a dozen of these plug-ins.  Having them is super helpful.  I'm also glad that with his upgrade policy I can always keep them up to date at no further charge.  That's a luxury.  What's a dilemma is that he releases new versions for all of them at a pretty fast clip.  Almost like monthly it seems.  Uninstalling and reinstalling is almost starting to get annoying, but on the other hand, it's like receiving a constant stream of presents from him.  So it's hard to complain.  But it is a pain.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

I have never uninstalled any Melda products prior to updating a minor release, and haven't had any problems. For a major release, e.g. version 7 to version 8, it's probably a good idea. But from 8.04 to 8.05, it shouldn't be necessary.

Having said that, I have to admit that I screwed up the 8.05 update myself this time. After installing, I pulled up some Melda plugs to check versions and was surprised to find them still at 8.04 (and one still at 8.03). What happened was I'd been too quick clicking the Next button while installing and hadn't paid attention to the install path. I keep all my Melda stuff in a separate folder called Meldaproduction, and assumed the installer was smart enough to remember the last destination. It isn't.

    Cheap bastard here...

Willing for now to put up with the nag screen rather than forking out however much to license the free bundle.

Mentioned this somewhere back in the dark ages, but worth a disconnected bump.

    MCompressor is an absolute gem.

Forget the presets. Check the custom box and roll your own comp.

Micronizing/customizing the front end of the comp timeline delivers one of the best noise gates, if not the best noise gate for your specific environment. This on top of being an excellent compressor.

Know this is all subjective, but regarding the threads about Revalver and P&M deals...

Fired up Melda MComp before their exquisite Tweed box. Fired up Melda before Revalver III.V.

P&M slammed Revalver to the brimstone pit with a hundred or so less knobs. Haven't done Revalver 4 but have hopes based on Larry's analysis.
