New version totally whacked out MMultiAnalyzer used in current projects. All get reset to the default plus Sonogram window won't open, entire gui turns white ..what a mess..

Does sound bad. I just tested the 64bit VST and VST3 versions in a new SONAR X3e project. Worked OK here.

Checked & it's the VST3 version. No time to futz around, I re-installed 8.0.2, it's working fine again..

Carl, it's most likely a problem specific to your video card. The improvements to 8.03 are minor, so your best bet is to stay on 8.02 for the time being, but disabling GPU acceleration would probably solve your 8.03 problem. It wouldn't hurt to report your problem, though, and be sure to specify your video adapter model. I had experienced symptoms similar to yours when version 8 first came out, and Vojtech reports that he's had a hard time implementing GPU acceleration with my brand of video card (ATI Radeon). So your post made me anxious when I read it - happily, though, 8.03 does not appear to have any issues for me here. I am not, however, running the VST3 version.

bit, I turned off acceleration in 8.0.2 , no problems with it but I didn't need it so I disabled it to conserve. VST3 is the problem in 8.0.3, not in 8.0.2. I'm going to do a restore before I had any Melda plugs installed then only 8.0.3 just to see what happens. Thanks for your help.

I restored a backup where no Melda plugins were installed then 8.0.3. It seems be to work normally again, no blank guis or frozen screens.. Maybe a registry issue? As before I could use acceleration but I disabled it in both versions to conserve, here's what I've noticed so far. 8.0.3: Sonogram doesn't function when accelration is disabled using VST3 but does using VST2. 8.0.2: Sonogram functions using both VST3, VST2 & using accelerated or non modes. Since I had acceleration disabled in both versions only Sonogram in 8.0.2 would work using VST3, which is what I use. I'll back up this restore so 8.0.2 never existed, hopefully that solved the problem.

Hi carl, When you say you turned off the acceleration to conserve what is it you are trying to conserve? As I understand it (which may be wrong) by having acceleration on it helps conserve CPU by off loading some of the load to the GPU (if supported GPU) This should be a helpful feature when used with supported GPU's. Kind regards, Rick

Was 8.02 uninstalled before updating to 8.03. This is recommended but not required. I just used the Control Panel to uninstall, never bother to restore from backup. Was SONAR open when the upgrading? IIRC, I had a UI problem after an older update that when away after restarting SONAR.

scook, do you remember if you had to re-auth the plugs after the uninstalls? I just noticed I still have both the V7 and V8 on my machine and I would like to painlessly remove the V7 stuff if a re-auth is not required.

No reauth needed. The Windows based delete leaves the licenses intact. FYI, there were some plug-ins dropped between 7 and 8. I remember looking at the plug-ins that were dropped and decided not to leave 7 installed myself. IIRC, one was a redundant dynamics plug-in with a smaller UI.

Settings note said turn it off if experiencing any graphic issues so I assumed it would help performance in general. I didn't have any problems with it except using Sonogram with 8.0.3 & VST3.

Does anyone know if there are any changes/improvements in the free bundle? I seem to have a heck of a time installing updates sometimes and I don't want to screw anything up if there is no reason to update. Thanks.

Hi Milt, Not sure what kind of problems you have when installing updates. I know if I try to install an update without first un-installing the previous version Win 7 will always ask me if the program installed correctly and I just click yes. Everything works fine after that.

I just bought Mautodynamiceq 8 version. My first Melda plugin. No issues likely because I have no previous versions. I'm really liking it so far. Much to learn though. May turn out to be a goto.

Thanks for noticing the article, guys. Look for my article on spectrum matching with MAutoDynamicEQ in a couple weeks. I'm also contributing a review of Melda's newest plugin, MTransient, for the July edition.

Hey Bit, Really happy to hear you're on board here with the articles! The Melda plugs are some Cool/Deep stuff but they definitely are not intuitive for the average joe and the documentation just does not do them justice. Looking very forward to reading your contributions!!!

I know you're kidding, but I do worry about being perceived as a shill for Melda and will back away from them after the September issue - and shill for somebody else for awhile ;) But my enthusiasm for the product line is genuine. Still a big fan of Fabfilter. Much prettier than the Meldaproduction stuff, and easier to grasp. But FF is pricey, which is what led me to investigate less-expensive alternatives in the first place, and then to make the happy discovery that such alternatives do exist. I still love Pro-Q, but it's no longer the one I reach for first - MDynamicEQ is now my first-call equalizer. Pro-MB is a marvel of ergonomic design and very powerful, but MDynamicEQ usually takes precedence over that one, too. That's two FF products replaced by a single Melda plugin that recently went on sale for 1/10 the price of the FF ones. I haven't tried MModernCompressor (currently on sale for $32!) yet, but I have a feeling it could conceivably dethrone the venerable Pro-C as my default go-to compressor.
