Melodica Samples

After searching all my old keyboards, Dimension Pro, Fantom, etc. I cannot find a sample of a Melodica (that thing like a harmonica with a keyboard on it). I would like to use it in a song. Anyone know of a sample set that doesn't cost more than such a thing is worth? I have the free Kontackt Player, EastWest Play, VSL, and Dimension Pro as possible hosts. The Dimension Pro harmonium is somewhat similar but not as rich and quirky sounding. (In fact, that sample is too tame for a harmonium.)

    Hey, Bill -

If you have the DSF "Planet Earth" expansion (one of the EMU packs), try some of the voices in the "misc." folder (like the "concertina" or the "Wah-cordian"). They may not be spot-on, but that's the beauty of being able to tweak the elements as you wish. Play around with them; you might hit upon something you like!

If you don't have that expansion set - and don't find a sample you like anywhere else - several places (like Zzounds, Musician's Friend, etc) sell the 32-key Hohner in your choice of blue ("Ocean") or red ("Fire") for around $67, or the Performer 37-key for $99. It could make a great travel instrument for a day at the beach!

konradh, PrecisionSound has a Yahama Pianica for $11... http://www.store.precisionsound.net/pianicainfo.php ... pianica is their trademarked melodica. Kontakt format, so depending on whether or not you have Kontakt full, you may have to map the underlying WAVs to your sampler format... I don't think they have a SoundFont version, but they might... also comes free w/ their great Weltmeister accordian, if you need an accordian...
