Melodyne Editor (DNA) Crashing Sonar

Anyone having luck with Melodyne Editor and Sonar 8.5.2?  As a plugin it loads, transfers the audio, but when I try to correct pitch or even adjust the sliders on the adjust pitch menu window it just freezes.  Sometimes it comes back, but will freeze again if I try to make any adjustments.  Just a few minutes ago Sonar just dissappeared from my desktop, wham!  just gone, no error message, nothing, when I tried to adjust the "Correct Pitch Center" slider in the adjust pitch menu.

XP Pro SP3, 32 bit OS & Sonar, not a very cpu or RAM intensive project otherwise.  Using an older dual-Xeon Quad @2.33 with 4GB installed ram.

I tried upping the ASIO buffer, still no luck.

Oh, using Lynx Aurora 16 via Lynx PCIe interface.

Thanks in advance.

I have had many many many crashes while operating Melodyne Editor within Sonar 8.5, but I can't make head or tails why....I can't reporduce the actual crash everytime...so I'm not sure why...but it happens quite often!

Ok, sorry to hear that but glad to know I'm not alone - please let me know if/when you learn what the issue might be and/or a fix and I'll be sure to do the same!

    Thanks again.

No issue here w/ polyphonic or melodic algorithms and 8.5.2. Just tweaked 8 bars of rythmn guitar.

    Hi-

Have you reported these issues to Celemony? I know they're working on some other things with SONAR (looping not working, for eg.).

I haven't had a crash yet, but I tend to work with very short samples since I'm still really just messing around with it. I'll try to push it further and see if I can repro, though.

    Thanks-

    -Susan

I had to revert back to the plug in.  Sonar doesn't seem to play well with it on my system.  It was freezing/crashing on me when trying to edit.

I tried the demo in S8.3 and couldn't get it to work at all.  Once I've installed S8.5 I'll try again.  Until then it's back to Uno.  I'll be watching this thread.

I'm going back to the plugin, ME has been nothing but problems for me.  I did send in a bug report with a mini-dump, but most times there's no dump and no ryhme or reason to the crashes.

I'm sure they'll get it worked out, but the version really wasn't ready IMO.

Yes it happens here too, it get locked sometimes and the GUI doesn't open anymore?
I fix it by closing SONAR and open the project again...

I use VISTA x64bit and SONAR 8.5.2 x64bit only... It happend on SONAR 8.5.1 too.

In my machine ME plugin crashes always shortly after 'listening' mode has been stopped.
I use standalone and wait for the bugfix.

Yikes. I just upgrades to 8.52 from 7 PE, and I have ME ordered. Wish I'd seen this thread sooner! Though, I still think I would buy it. ;-)

I will be watching too, and I will report (hopefully won't forget!)

Lots of people on other forums waiting for reports on this...is it too good to be true?

Anyone having NO problems with this combo??

Please listen to my band's new (post-prog rock?!) songs at www.reclaimmusic.com all produced using sonar X1!!

Wow, well, as I said, sorry for everyone's pain, but kinda glad it's not only my setup or I'd have to pull all my hair out troubleshooting - which is just about my favorite thing in the whole world.

I did manage to correct pitch on one vocal track once, very slowly and patiently.  I have to assume, as the always helpful Susan said, Celemony is working on a patch given the freshness of the product and its complexity.  Let's hope this issue is part of the fix and I will send something to them if I can get an error message (instead of just a crash).

    Thanks again.

You need to make sure your Buffers or latency, depending on your driver mode is set high enough. Melodyne needs allot more buffers than the normal 64 or 128 or 256. Try 1024 or higher in ASIO mode

I have an almost identical configuration to the OP with the exception of the processor and only 1G of memory.  Melodyne Editor and Sonar 8.5.2 peacefully co-exist, though painfully slow.  One thing I did notice is that with ME in the track, memory utilization accumulates until the track will no longer play.  I think there's a runaway somewhere in Melodyne.  But with 4G I wouldn't expect that to be a problem.

you need more than I gig of ram. That's why your having an issue with melodyne. I gig isnt nuttin. Its a tease. Your teasing your system of ram. give your pc what it needs and stop teasing it with 1 gig.

Sorry to sound like such a newb, but anyone have some pointers for how to use this plugin in Sonar?  Do the instructions work exactly like this in Sonar?

I've been having to run the Editor separately and manipulate files.  When I apply it to a clip in Sonar (as an Audio Effect), nothing shows up in the window.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!
