Melodyne Editor - needs 2056 for audio buffers...

Melodyne Editor - needs 2056 for audio buffers...

Despite my respectable PC spec (see below) I find that when using Melodyne Editor as a plugin I have to temporarily set my audio buffers to at least 2056, about ten times my usual setting, or Melodyne freezes and crashes Sonar X1.  Does anyone else have that problem?
(I know the standalone version works ok on very low buffers (using an exported WAV of the vocal track concerned) but I need to hear the vocal track I'm working on in situ.)

My stuff
 
Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600 @ 3.4GHz, 4 cores, 8 threads, 16GB RAM.
OS & Programs drive: 240GB SSD
Data drives: 1 x 1TB drive RAID mirrored, plus extra 1TB data drive 
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Cakewalk by BandLab 64 bit, Studio One 3, Band In A Box 2016, Ozone 8
+ too many other plugins

    I can pretty much set my buffers to whatever using Melodyne, my problems with ME come up when I begin hitting 1.2-1.5GB mem usage in Sonar and higher buffer settings don't help.  I usually have mine set at 1024 though when I'm working with ME.

    FYI, I can have my sound card buffers at 64 and Melodyne Editor works
