Melodyne Registration Nightmare

Having the same problem registering Melodyne for Sonar Platinum as I did for X3.  I just gave up on it for X3 and never used it, which totally sucked.

1.  I insert Melodyne as an FX, and a window pops up asking for my serial number.  I enter the number and click "Continue Registration."
2.  A window asks me to log in or create a myCelemony account.  I don't have one, so I click on "create myCelemony account."
3.  A window pops up with my serial number saying that this number has already been registered!  And that I should enter my email address and password of my myCelemony account.  BUT I DON'T HAVE ONE YET!
4.  I try my cakewalk e-mail and password, but it's invalid.  WTFF?
5.  I try requesting a new password in case somehow I did already register while stoned.  I enter my e-mail, and it says no customer is associated with this e-mail!  WTMFF?

Any help would be appreciated.  How did you guys do it?

No point putting this here, Contact their customer support. They are very responsive friendly and most excellent for me. Twice now I forgot to unregistered before upgrading or changing my OS drive. They fixed this within a day both times.
As far as creating an account it was same process as any registration. You must of hurried through it and somehow entered something wrong.

And most of us are not downloading or using the version that comes with 2015. My X3 version is working fine still. I'll keep the new version on hold as it gives me 2 extra installs.

Ok, it might be my fault, but I don't think so.  The registration process shouldn't be so easy to screw up.  I never gave them an e-mail or password.

Just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem.

But you just said you had tried with X3. You probably got half way though it that time so are in the system somehow. Just contact them and include your serial number from X3.

I didn't change mine either, since I already upgraded to Editor 2 and didn't want to screw that up, with Essential.
No issues here.

I too kept Editor, I had upgraded with X3.

The registration for Melodyne comes through Celemony, not Cakewalk.  Hopefully they can straighten it out, as suggested by others.

Have you changed your email with Cakewalk? Though I suppose you'd have had to change it with Celemony.
Good luck. Have you kept your emails with them? Buy it through the CW store?

You can straighten this out.

I'm sure the damage will be limited.  I did everything legitimately and purchased Sonar directly from Cakewalk.
I'd like to give that hacker a knuckle sandwich.  Hackers are criminals, just like shoplifters.
It's early Sunday morning in Germany, so I don't expect a resolution right away.

I had the very same error, Celemony informed me that the number I was trying to register (The essentials registration number i recieved with Sonar Platinum) was the same number I had upgraded to Editor that I recieved with X3.

I assumed I'd be getting a different number and my idea was that Id have another licence for more installations. Celemony were very efficient at answering my emailed questions.

However, Cakewalk are not, a week later and still no reply from Cakewalk support, so don't hold your breath for a reply from them.

leemac,
When I sent my serial number to Celemony, they said it was registered to another person and asked me to confirm that I am that person.  Is that what happened to you?  Why does Cakewalk have to be involved in your case?

That's never been the case with any bundled software I've received when upgrading a core package, no matter who the vendor is. Now, if you buy a new license for Platinum then you'll get a new melodyne license. :)

Ok, so here's the customer service response from Celemony:

Dear ____,Thank you for your email. This “Melodyne essential” version 2 serial number is already register by a different customer. Unfortunately our colleagues at Cakewalk made a mistake by handing out some “essential” serial numbers twice. Please go to this website to get this issue taken care of:http://www.cakewalk.com/fix

The link above takes you to the "Melodyne Essential Serial Number Fixer" at the Cakewalk site.
LOL!  At least Cake apologizes on that page.  But I had never heard of it until Celemony alerted me to it.  Excellent support at Celemony--they responded on a Sunday late night in Germany.
The Cake page asks you to enter serial numbers, and a new Melodyne serial number is generated automatically.  Fast Fix and DONE!  Woooooooo!

leemac,

I went to register my 'new' Melodyne Essentials that I thought I'd gotten with my upgrade to Sonar Platinum only to get an automated response from Celemony that it had already been registered. I contacted Celemony, who were highly efficient with responses and they confirmed that I'd already upgraded the number to Editor. After messages back and forth, they advised me to contact Cakewalk. I did by email on the 26th January, Im still awaiting a response other than the 'we've recieved your message' response.

Today I went to the Melodyne Fix page and entered in my serial numbers only to be told it was NOT a dupliacte!

I bit the bullet and decided to call Cakewalk support, only to find out they don't give telephone support until 1pm EST, Im in the UK. Clearly, you're knackered if you have a problem in the morning then :)

Im not sure what to do next.

I didn't get a different serial number for Melodyne Essentials with my Platinum upgrade from X3 Producer.  The serial number they gave me is the exactly same one they gave me when I bought the X3 Producer upgrade.

I don't think you get an "extra" copy of Melodyne Essentials with an upgrade from X3 Producer to Platinum.  Even though it did appear in my account and wasn't there before, the serial number was the same.

Same here.  However, since I also had X3, I could generate a new serial number at the Melodyne Fix page, and I could use Melodyne in Platinum.  It's weird, though.  I don't understand why we can't get a new Melodyne license with a Platinum upgrade.  I'm sure it's a contractual thing, but could be otherwise.

That's the is ue that has occurred. Instead of giving you a new serial number fro Melodyne they are reissuing a serial number previously allocated to you which then creates the error that the serial number is registered already.

Maybe it's come about as a consequence of Cakewalk merging the store and the forum. Some users had different emails for each account, and if you don't yet have a unified account that too can cause problems.

If you already have a Melodyne Essentials serial number from a prior purchase of SONAR X3 Producer, you should not receive a NEW Melodyne Essentials serial number from a purchase of SONAR Platinum. There are circumstances in which you may have been issued a new serial number due to the way your account was set up at the time of purchase (of either SONAR X3 Producer, SONAR Platinum, or both), but in the vast majority of cases, you should only have one Melodyne Essentials serial number in your SSO account.

Thank you for an answer at least on that one, it saves me chasing it and waiting for technical support to respond.
However, it does seem strange that I have multiple Dimension Pro & Rapture licences in my account from all my Sonar upgrades and it NOT apply to Melodyne Essentials.

This serial number has already been assigned to your account. What does that mean? I go into Platinum to use it and there are just a bunch of grey blobs and then the prompt to register.
