Melodyne Woes

Hi. I have a problem with Melodyne. I'm currently in contact with Celemony, initially re it not updating. They suggested the VST path was wrong and to uninstall it. Now it's not working. I have the lastest Editor version installed in program files/cakewalk/VST plugins, but Sonar is giving me this: ...following VST plug-in failed to load: (80004002), and then lists where its installed. I then get another similar error message, but this time stating that the VST3 failed to load - address: c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins\celemony\vst3\Celemony\Melodyne. It then gives me the same message again and again and again

It then tells me these files could not be found:
Melodyne (Track: 'DVFX_120_B_Surrounded_Full (46)')
Melodyne (Track: '(Untitled)')
Melodyne (Clip: '<Melodyne> What She's Talking About (287)')
Melodyne (Clip: '<Melodyne> What She's Talking About (287)')
Melodyne (Clip: '<Melodyne> What She's Talking About (287)')
Melodyne (Clip: '<Melodyne> What She's Talking About (287)')

The single edition is installed and the latest version. Melodyne had been working okay in X3c and all I wanted to do was just update it.
Any help sorting this out much appreciated.
Thanks

Have you had any earlier versions of melodyne installed? It sounds kind of like a registry problem. What you might try is just uninstalling melodyne and clean out the registry of any melodyne traces. Reinstall just melodyne from the the updated version on their site when prompted or if you already have it, install the updated version.. Also, is the Region FX version of melodyne working? Is it just the vst version that's whacked out? I couldn't get my region fx melodyne to work in 64 bit because the installer did not add the Common Files folder to be scanned. The 32 bit installation went great. Melodyne worked fine. I know it's a lot here but these are the things that come to mind.

Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

Hi Sidroe. In Sonar, I'm unable to add Melodyne and/or use the FX. The stand alone is fine. Celemony wanted me to check Preferences (Advanced): Initialization File and ensure ARA value is 1. But in Advanced, there is only 'auto save stuff'. However above it, there is the Initialization File and there wasn't any info in it...blank. They say I need to contact Cakewalk Support...I tried that yesterday, but in 2 browsers, I get the 'Internet is broken' message.

So it's all very confusing. I kept getting the 'update Melodyne' message and installing the latest updated the stand-alone, but did not update the VST. I ensured the Common Files is scanned in VST Manager, so yes, it probably is registry related.

I can only wait until I can get through to tech support. I've uninstalled it again and did a trace of items left over in the registry, and I'll try again, but something seems stuffed. I initially installed the Editor for X2 and perhaps when X3 included it, there may have been some kind of conflict created, despite Celemony stating you could still do this. They certainly seem stuck at this point.

    Thanks

Well this is interesting...started up X2 and Melodyne works and is the updated version. So it X3 specific...maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall?

I've uninstalled X3, as the issue appears to be related to it.

When I reinstall it, should I:

    a) not install Melodyne, since it exists already and it's the latest version?

    b) install only the ARA component of Melodyne ignoring the rest? or

    c) install it any way - the latter I've tried yesterday and Sonar informed me that a latter version is installed already and will have to be uninstalled first...which I did and then reinstalled Mel, which did not work.

cancel melodyne installation if you have latest melodyne already installed when installing X3d, that's what I did, and I  have no problems with up to date Melodyne editor.

bz2838 got it right. To be safe I would sit tight and try to get support to help if it feels like a registry problem. Unless you have a lot of experience tweaking the registry it can be rather risky mucking about in there.

Okay, thanks for your advice...didn't work...same error. Yes it appears to be registry related. Of course each time I submit a tech request form, I'm getting the old 'internet broken' message again...practicing being patient.

FWIW, I have had great results in the past simply emailing cakewalk support. They have responded quickly and interacted promptly until we ironed out the problem. They probably don't want to be deluged with a bunch of e-mails but I have done that sometimes as a last resort. They have always been very kind and courteous. Maybe give that a shot. Check under support on their page for the email address.

Yes, thanks Sidroe. I've been trying that but am getting the 'internet is broken' message. Dan suggested disabling my Virus...or uninstalling, which I don't want to do.

I've been in contact with Dan via PM and he's suggested a process, which unfortunately didn't work. I'll either have to wait to contact Tech support, or do a restore from a backup image, when Mel was working okay...not the updated version in X3 mind you, but at least it was working.

As previously mentioned, it's working in X2, but I've been spoiled by X3 and don't want to go back.
