I don't think it would help to make this forum exclusive to Sonar users. The Trolls work on a different set of ideals, it would only piss them off more. There's always a way around. Those who practice confusion and chaos actually make temporary order out of it, especially in cyber space. I think what's needed is a system to identify people who disrupt at their source. Good luck with that. Until you can change the fabric of the internet to suit your own tastes, you'll just have to pick and choose, accept and ignore, or fight the good fight.

If you don't like the freedom of expression here, then why don't you start your own private Cakewalk technical support site? That way you can personally pick and choose who you'd like to talk to. You can let your big fat egos run the show and nobody will hurt your poor delicate feelings.
BTW, there is an "ignore" feature on this forum software. If everyone ignored the spammers it would waste of their time and they will go elsewhere.

i don't think there's a better overall solution than what already is in place, other than cakewalk more rigorously killing spammers and their threads.

i am against the "registered users only" across the board for reasons already stated. there's already a process for flagging posts, and short of "deputizing" forum members for spam patrol (which i'm also not in favor of), i don't see many other options that wouldn't hurt cakewalk or the forum in general less than a few obvious troll threads.

I feel the Cakewalk people can issue a pass for people only when they register the software to become members of this forum. Please post your thoughts.

My thoughts are this.................

Allow visitors the same privileges as users that are not logged in............this way they may search and read what they like........

Allow only registered users the privilege of posting, replying etc.........

There's one of those here too that is having a great conversation with itself...

+LOL. Very funny and true!! The "itself" part is very observant.

Holy Toledo! We get as many posts complaining about trolls and spammers as there are post BY trolls and spammers. Sheeesh! Treat 'em like the obnoxious 14 year old next door: ignore them!

Very anti-democratic yourself. No vote? You must mean a vote of "No"...

Actually I want to amend my viewpoint here and have anyone who isn't registered boiled in oil and then eviscerated.

I really think we need to adopt a firm but fair policy in these times of declining moral standards.

I think that folks who have over a certain number of registered Cakewalk products should be at least temporarily banned from the forums. You know, to make up for the injustice of it all. Especially those that list all the goodies in their sig. Austerity forever...

How about an OPTION to specify a serial number when registering for the forum. If the member's profile includes a valid serial number, a special icon could be displayed near the user's avatar. That way, if no icon was displayed, a member could expect to be handled as a prospective user.

It could also help Cakewalk identify users with stolen serial numbers (if the number had already been used).

My neighbor's son just found a copy of Sonar 5, in the school's sand pile. He's getting POP'S and CLICKS, and no sound at the same time. He did experience motor boating, but that was when they were on a school outing at the beach. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Props to post #42; from a long time user to a newer forum member, that's one of the most sensible posts in this thread. Cheers,
