Another great country singer has left us.... he defined country music when I was just getting started listening to it.  Played many of his songs through the years.
 
He will be missed.

    Sad to hear the news. I made a lot of money over the years singing and playing Merle Haggardsongs. 
    So long Merle you will never be forgotten by true country music followers.

    He was a voice of the working man. Will miss his singing and song writting.

    Sad to hear of his passing.  I've played a lot of Haggard music over the years.  It also worries me as I'm almost the same age (I'll be 79 in December).  I worked the road with George Hamilton IV, who was also born in 1937 and he too left us last year.

    RIP Merle. A great traditional country artist. "Big City" has been my 'wishful' theme song for years.
