Nailed it! My favourite Pretenders song, what a great choice for a cover. Dena's sounding very good on this, guitars and drums are spot on, especially the drums, really nicely done Mark.

Yeah, that's spot on Mark - great cover.
Dena has got Chrissie Hynde's vocal nuances off pat, while still making the song hers.

I had done some guitar on another tune with Dena that I was listening to, and as I was listening Dena's voice kept reminding me of Chrissie Hynde. I was thrilled when she agreed to do this with me.
I was going to make the guitar parts more "mine", but as I was learning the song I became aware of the brilliant subtleties of their guitar work and decided it was more of a challenge to try to reproduce what they did.

Yes James, it was Honeyman-Scott. He was a brilliant player and another tragic loss of life from excessive drug use.

This is not an easy song to cover, but you did a good job. The vocal, while lacking the intensity of the original, still is very convincing. I give you very high marks for this. Nice one.

Another good one Mark!!! You really got the sound nailed down. I remember seeing the Pretenders at the Tampa Theater -- great show. I remember being impressed at the coordination/interplay between Pete Farndon (another waste) and Martin Chambers. Dena did an excellent job on the vocal.
Everything was spot on --- excellent job!

It's been a long time since I heard this so I checked the original. Other than some minor timing issues with the main chord riff this is a really nice cover!

I don't know the tunes but she is one hell of a vocalist.
There is a little pumping and breathing on the cyms in the first fill, I'd check that out.

Thanks Frank. I was trying to get away from the 80's reverb washed vox in the original. I'll check again with fresh ears and see if I think they are too up front. I appreciate your comments.

Like Frank, I'm ignorant of this tune. But I like the production. The lead vocal sits in the mix really nice. Of course the guitars rock. Cool job, both of you.

Hey, Mark and Dena, You guys really nailed this killer Pretenders cover! Everything is spot on from the excellent instrumentation and performances, to the stellar vocals and top notch mix. In one of my cover bands we used to play "Brass in Pocket" and "Middle of the Road", and the Pretenders always went over big in the clubs. Fantastic job!  Bob

Don't know the tune at all, but you certainly captured the Pretenders sound, reminiscent of No Doubt too. Listening on lappy the vox sound great but not quite in the same space as the rest. No crits otherwise - good job both !

Funny, Mark, I was just listening to GO. I remember how your lead really finished off the tune. I loved playing bass on that and working with WQill and Dena. I was really impressed with this song. Nice recording on Dena's vocal and your instrumentation was great. I'm glad to see she's doing some music. GO is one of my favorites. This is an awesome cover of the Pretenders. I saw them do it live and I don't think you missed anything! How's that shoulder?

Warren, great to see you. "Go" was a great tune to play on. Shoulder is great but back is killing me. I'd hoped that the back surgery would have fixed everything but I guess I was just dreaming. And what about you? I hope you've healed up perfectly well.

Mark, You just never stop amazing me with your songs and remakes of songs. This is totally awesome and takes me way back in time.
