Meter Bridge......

Is there a plug in for this?? I'd love to be able to get a 48 track, plus stereo master meter bridge on one screen. with two screens, I could see 84 tracks, a bus, and my mixdown, all at the same time.

If we ask nice enough, do you think Cakewalk could help us out with this??

Oh, would anyone else like this, or is it just me??

Look at these.........

Meter Bridge 2

Forgive my ignorance on this matter, but.....What mixer is that?? I have been using the standard Sonar 5PE mixer. Is it another view or something??

Edit: Well I see on the second screen shot that it is a Tascam X48...is that a plug in???

The tascam X48 is a stand alone 48 track hard disk recorder, that you can plug a monitor and mouse into, and also takes VST plugins. I'm getting one as soon as they are on the market. Check out Tascams site.

I only like that they can squeeze 48 tracks and then some on a single screen. I'm asking if anyone knows if there is a METER BRIDGE plug-in, that will do the same.

Or hoping that Cakewalk reads this....... hmmmm

maybe I'll put in a feature request.

Yeah, that would be cool. I usually work in track view and would love to have a meter bridge on top instead of that overall track view thingie. It seems like it wouldn't be that difficult or maybe the capability's already there.
Is there a way to customize the GUI?

I have a mixer with a built in 24 channel meter bridge and I admit I enjoy watching it.

But to tell the truth, the metering built into the track view is more connected to whats going on. With the meter bridge, I always have to calculate what the track is, but on the track view, its built in. For instance, if track 11 is active, the first thing I have to do is figure out what is on 11. In the meter view, it is easily evident.

A meter bridge has the trade off of taking more monitor space and CPU cycles, and only repeating what is more ore less already showing in the track view.

BTW, 5.0.2 has a midi send of metering, so outside gear can meter. When I read this, I wondered if someone could write a MIDI plug that would be a virtual control surface/meter bridge. Since I have a separate computer for soft synth and other stuff, the meter bridge could run on machine 2.

    Hi:
This is one of the various reasons I love my two DS2416+C-Console combo. With C-Console, I can to see the 48 track metter bridge and also the Main Stereo metter and all the subs and auxs metters. Without to speak in the realtime on-board 4 effects devices (2 by card), dynamics control at each channel, low latency and a decent final sound.
As I have an AX16-AT (8in/8out ADAT card) connected with the two cards combo in one side, and a MY8-AT (8in/8out ADAT card) inserted in the 01V digital mixer, at the other side, the signal path still all the time in the digital domain, without unnecessary D/A conversions and free of typical analog noises.
I know this is an obsolete system, out of production long time ago, but as I don´t need more than 24bits/44Khz (48khz is also possible in the system), all these features are valuable for me.
    Only my .2 cents.
    Greetings.

    Hi Carlos:
The C-Console 1.4 is a virtual console for to control one or two DS2416 Yamaha cards. I don´t know if you know this card but it have DSP processors on the board. So, with the C-Mexx C-Console we have total control over all the parameters in the card (EQ, Dynamics, Effects, Buses, Sends, Subgroups, etc etc).
You can get more info about the C-Mexx products here. The actual version is 2.0, of course.
As you did request pictures, I uploaded here the Main Page view and here various opened editors view. The files are .bmp for a better resolution, so it are large but you´ll have a better view of it.
I saw in the C-Mexx site they unfortunately haven´t a virtual console for the AW4416.
    Greetings.

Juca....... thanks.... that looks pretty cool.

calaverasgrandes, the biggest problem I've got with the console view, is that I can't see many tracks at a time. on my 21" monitor, I think it's like 18, or 24 max.... mono.... but on something like the VS2480, you can see all 24 tracks. On that Tascam, you can see 48 tracks. If I could open multiple console views, I'd fill the whole screen with nothing but meters. that's all I need to see. I don't need to see faders, and knobs, and cute little buttons. I have them in the track view, and I can control all that with a midi controller.

Faders, MSR, EQ, FX, I don't need to see it all on the screen, just the meters.

you can customize the view to just show faders and meters. I can get about 22 or so on a 17" monitor with it set to narrow strip. I am still using 4.04. Got bills to pay before I can upgrade to 5. Though if I get a CS with meters I am getting 5 PE just for the ability to have 2 way CS communication. And multipile file resolutions ins a single project.

I do the same and share my 'meter bridge' with big time and Span on my second monitor. I've saved it as a Layout and it seems to meet my needs. I would like a 3rd monitor however!

whats wrong with the meters in the console view?

there not like the one in nuendo and Cubase, in them you can load and open multiple mixers, consoles, one could be like 1-24, the next mixer could be 25-48, etc,...I guess this person was asking to be able in a meter bridge plugin to see alll there tracks on a meter bridge. In Sonar you have to scrollSoanr could hush this by over in all that empty space on master view on console put button for next, and for groups of tracks like 1-24 etc, and when you click on a button say 49-72 and it would scroll to those tracks, actuallt this would be a cool feature request

    This is a good idea.

A similar idea has been discussed. Allow more sort fields in the tracks, so you could sort by or filter by these fields. If you had 5 sort fields, you could have 5 quick views of pertinent tracks.

There is a similar capability in the upcoming Digital Performer 5 called, appropriately, "Meter Bridge" that does this. From the ad copy it looks pretty cool. It would be nice if CW added this functionality.

Just for the heck of it I opened the Console View in Sonar 6.2.1 on my 15.4" widescreen laptop ... I set the strip widths to Narrow and was able to see 23 strips plus the master. I imagine I would be able to see many more strips on a bigger monitor and at a higher resolution.

Yes, I know, but was talking about a separate - eye candy - marketing gimmick type thing.

Slightly OT... but wow I never thought of that. Does anyone make a midi meter bridge (preferable 19" rack mountable)? I've never heard of such a thing, but I'd to find one if it exists. You can never have too many blinky lights in the studio.
