Metrenome timing: what's the deal

ok, sorry lads...I searched for a previous answer, but cam eup MT.

I have the metronome set as audio, 8 beat count -in.

Everything's great while recording.
But, if I hit record on a new track, the previous recorded bits do not match up with how I recorded.
Meaning, the first tracks audio, starts playing before the metronome is at the spot I'm expecting it to be.

Jus wondering what I'm not doing properly..

Thanks lads,
R

I've never really cared for the count-in. There seems to be a rather nasty hiccup when the tracks actually kick in. Especially with soft synths, but it's not real smooth with audio tracks either.
A better approach (at least for me) is to record several dead air measures with the metronome rolling. Don't use the count-in at all.
Four to twelve measures is fine, although I've seen some guys leave up to twenty.
The dead space can be edited out later, but it gives you some freedom to slide tracks that might not line up properly.

Try giving this a shot. If it doesn't work you can always change it back.

Insert a new Bus into your project and call it "Metronome". Set its output to your soundcard.

Then go to Options > Project > Metronome tab. Set the output of the metronome to the new Metronome Bus you just created and click OK.

Now try recording again and see if this fixed the problem for you.

well lads, good suggestions, but niether works.
    Same issue..

No worries: I might investigate that potential solution of creating your own click track.

    Many thanks

OK try this.... ditch the metronome and build your own.... it's easier than you think and the method that I have preferred.

Go to my web site and look under the MC page for the instructions on setting up drums in TTS. I use a 2 measure count in... but the count in is done with TTS playing the drums and the project rolling..... so there is no abrupt starts at the beginning.... which on all my songs starts at M3.
