Metronome Problem

Hi, I'm new to the forum and Sonar LE, so in all likelihood, this will be a simple fix, however, i cannot get the audio metronome to work whatsover. I think i have the setting set correctly but i still cannot hear anything? Basically i have used the Metronome toolbar, set the metronome to recording and playback, selected the metronome sounds and the output is my ASIO driver that i use for recording. Any other suggestions as to what the problem would be? Thanks Barry

Its funny how people pass over your post but if you have the metronome toolbar then there should be a speaker symbol with three lines on top of each other. Click the 'R' to prep for recording then record with it on and off see which one works.

I was hoping someone would answer your question. Beyond turning it on or off, I don't know much about how Cakewalk's metronome works. And when I did use it, I used the MIDI met.
Most of us do not use it at all, prefering to make a scratch drum track. I could never hear the metronome anyway.
When you write your "output is my ASIO driver", that's not really an output. What is the device name that uses the ASIO driver, and is it a valid output? For instance, you may have unknowingly reset it to the S/PDIF output and nothing is connected to the S/PDIF output.

Cheers for the replies folks. Damien your suggestion doesn't work unfortunately. Greg is there an easy way to find out what the device name is that is using the ASIO drivers? I'm brand new to this so excuse my ignorence :) I think i'd prefer though to create scratch drum tracks if possible. What do you use to create those?

The sound card or audio interface you're using will be under Options>Audio>Playback Timing Master/Recording Timing Master (Options, at the top of the screen) for older versions of SONAR or press the P key on your computer keyboard to view and edit your Preferences for SONAR X1 LE. The device will be listed under Playback Device and Recording Device.
For a drum click track to record to, choose a MIDI track, select channel 10 for the output channel.
Open the Piano Roll view (PRV). If there are piano keys on the left instead of drum names, right-click and choose Use These Note Names and select MIDI drums.
Select a note duration of 1/4 and set the Snap-to to 1/4, too.
    Select the Draw tool.
Click in a bass drum note on the first and third beats.
A snare drum note on the second and fourth beats.
Change note duration and Snap to 1/8 or 1/16.
Enter high hat notes on the eighths or sixteenths beats.
    Rewind and hit play.
Now go back to the Track view, right-click the MIDI clip you just wrote and select Groove Looping. The corners of the clip will become bevelled to show it is now a Groove Clip. You should be able to grab either side of the clip and drag that clip out either way and the drum pattern will repeat as far as you drag it. Instant drum track!
I assure you, it takes less time to do it than it took to type it!
Of course, I didn't mention a thing about which hardware synth or soft synth to use. That would be up to you, and I'm not sure which soft synths were included with whatever version of LE you have.
Ask more questions if you need to.
