Metronome: basic question

I'm new and running through tutorials. I'm now on tutorial 2 and I can't get the metronome to sound. I followed the tutorial directions and I get nothing. I went to record anyway and was able to record a brief piano track so the recording works but I can't hear any metronome, whether through the PC speakers or through the keyboard speaker. Any ideas? Thanks.

Even though the options for metronome sound are to play through the PC speakers or through MIDI, you won't be able to hear it through the PC speakers. It just ticks away somewhere inside the computer. And even if you have it set up to play through your MIDI keyboard, the maximum volume is so low you probably won't hear it anyway. Do the MIDI sounds come through your PC speakers or your keyboard speakers? Skip to the session drummer tutorial or search here for the SD tut. You'll be happier doing it that way. Greg

I have the MIDI sounds coming through the keyboard speaker. I'm wondering how the future tutorials are going to help me get the metronome to sound?

What Greg is trying to say is that it is better to skip the Metronome altogether, and build a click track in session drummer and use that for timing.

Ok, thanks. It makes me wonder, if this is a routine occurrence, why the tutorials and the manuals are written as if its easily done the way they say it is. I guess the world isn't always laid out perfectly.
