Metronome count-in issue

hello, it might be a stupid question I'm quite new to DAW and especially to Cakewalk. I'm using Sonar 6 LE that came with my UA25EX edirol interface. I set the metronome to Audio (I have no midi sounds at the moment) and set 2 measures as count in to start recording. The problem is that after the 2 meas. count-in even if I start to play perfectly on time based on what I hear, the very first beginning (half a sec.) of the track is cut/not recorded. Is this an issue with latency not properly set up?
Very annoying because I cannot use the metronome for perfectly on time attack!  Also, I know other softwares are continually pre-recording the first seconds of an input so that no attack is never loosed. Is this available in Sonar?

That does seem strange.  I'll try it when I get home to see if SHS does the same on my computer.   I typically start a few measures early just in case I start a bit early.

You may want to start a measure or two before you want to start the recording, just in case you are a bit early.  It'd be a shame to try to recreate a perfect performance if just a few microseconds got cut at the start.

ASIO is the driver to use when the interface supports it.

Change to the ASIO driver , run wave profiler again and give it a try.

I always leave 2 blank measures in all my songs, it gives time for the count in to get ME on track, to get ready to start playing, room for pick up notes, and also it gives the DAW time to get it's act together too. I have not had that issue of the DAW being slow to start recording, but I still like to leave those 2 measures at the beginning. I edit them out of the final exports.
