Metronome

Hi All

Having something of a problem with Metronome in X1 Producer. Before I record an audio track I set the Metronome to 113 bpm. However, when I replay what I have recorded the reading changes from 113 up to 117 and down to about 111 and several readings in between. Is this meant to happen? I thought once you set the metronome it should remain constant throughout recording and playback.

Any help appreciated.

You can't "set the metronome" to a tempo.
You set the tempo tp the project and then the metronome just follows that tempo
If the project changes tempo somewhere the metronome changes tempo as well

I think you mean the tempo, not the metronome. The metronome is the clicking sound you hear which helps keep on beat.

The tempo should remain constant, unless you entered different tempo settings throughout the project. Could you have by any chance changed the tempo (by making a tempo change) somewhere other than the beginning of the project?

What version of SONAR X1 are you using? The latest version is SONAR X1b build 245.

There were problems with SONAR X1a and earlier for a number of users. I recommend you update to at least X1b build 244 (which means you install updates X1a, X1b, and the QuickFix (X1b build 244)), if you don't have those updates installed, already.

Then see if it goes well, then?

You might have to test on a new project because if you did by chance change the tempo at various positions in that project (purposely or accidentally,) the tempo changes will remain, unless you change them back, intentionally.

    Hi

Thanks for the responses. Could the changes in tempo have resulted from me using quantize? I was playing with that. If it is because of quantize, is it best to record an audio / midi track, quantize it and then use it to be a reference for quantizing all subsequent tracks. I believe thats possible and I am still reading about it. Fairly new at this so thanks in advance.

In older versions, there was a simple 'switch' that enabled you to record at half-tempo or double-dempo without permanently altering the tempo map. Is there still a way to do this in Sonar X1? I keep getting directed to the arppegiator, and that's just NOT the same thing!!!
