Metronome not lining up to the time line or the midi tracks

I have an issue that I have not found a solution within the forum.

I'm running Sonar X1, not using any type of external sync, a pretty simple set up.

I have a piece recorded at a tempo of 102 and all MIDI tracks were recorded at that tempo, there are no audio tracks, it's all MIDI.  Through my own error I erased the drum track which was using the Session II drum module.

Now when I open the project the metronome no longer is in any kind of sync with the MIDI track or even the timeline.  All of the tracks are lined up correctly, most are on the downbeat that was the first thing I thought about.  However the click is almost like it is in half time EXCEPT that by measure two it does not line up at all.  The only tempo assigned is on beat 1 at the very beginning.  The time signature is in 3/4 and all of the MIDI tracks were recorded with the tempo set at 102 but now when I play back the tracks they are about 2.5 times as fast.  When I slow the tempo to something like 51 the tracks are close to the right tempo but the click still does not line up and it is still off of the beat shown in the timeline.  As soon as I put the tempo at 102 the tracks are just out of control fast.

Has anybody have thoughts about what is causing this issue?

Thanks,
YD

Are you using MIDI- or audio-metronome? Try the other one. I have experienced minor metronome problems as well (8.5) but they've been temporary. I've found audio-metronome more stable.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    Thanks for the input.

I'm using the Sonar metronome.  This is the first time I've had an issue with the metronome and it seems to be only in this project.

Of course you use the SONAR metronome. I asked if you use the audio metronome or MIDI-metronome.

Just FYI , There is an X1 Forum that is more active so use that next time, this is for older versions of Sonar.

But the issues are the same.

First you should list your system specs in your signature or posts which can help when trouble shooting.
Are you using an ASIO audio interface?  If not you can defiantly have clock issues.

@Kalle - I thought you were referring to an external clock.
@ Cactus - thanks too for the input.  I'll try to find the specific X1 forum for future posts. thx

I have started to port the project into a fresh start and the metronome is perfect, seems that there is something in the actual file that is messed up.
