Mic input on Roland Quad cap.

Hi, I have Roland Quad capture workin good on midi, but can not get microphone to work.
I have RODE Videomic Go that works fine in computers own microphone input, but not in quad capture. Why?
I have followed the instructions to use inputs 1L or 2R with 48V phantom on. When plugging I cant get squics sounds so input is on, but microphone does not produce any sound.

Is the pinout of a normal cap microphone (works on souncard mic input) compatible to Roland Quad Capture?
Do I need some kind of a adapter?
I now have a 3.5mm to 6.3mm stereo plug adapter, so it fits to Roland but does not work..

Hi. To be able to use your QC mic preamp, you should have the mic connected to the XLR inputs, with the phantom power off.
This is the specs of your mic:
    Acoustic PrincipleLine GradientFrequency Range100Hz ~ 16,000Hz
    Equivalent Noise34dBA SPL (A - weighted per IEC651)
    Signal Noise60dB SPL (A - weighted per IEC651)
    Power RequiredPlug-in power required (330uA @ 2.5V)
    Dimensions167mmL x 79mmH x 70mm
    DDirectional PatternSuper-CardioidSensitivity-35dB re 1V/Pa (17.8mV @ 94dB SPL) ±2dB @ 1kHzMaximum SPL120dB (@ 1kHz, 1% THD into 1kΩ load)
    Dynamic Range96dB (per IEC651)
    Output Connection3.5mm stereo mini-jack
    Weight73g

Maybe better to use your pc soundcard with that mic. Others may know better.
    Best of luck.
Ps. If you use 48v on that mic, you might fry it.

Your adapter should work as I have used them in my Octa-Capture and as Ken has stated you should not use the 48V phantom.

    Things to check first:
Are you using the right output cables, i.e 1 or 2. If both are plugged into your system then there is no problem.
Make sure you have the right input selected in Sonar, i.e. if you are recording from #2 but #1 is selected you will not get a recording.
Also make sure the tracks echo thru is high lighted if you want to hear yourself.

Try this also:  select auto sens, sing at your loudest volume then end auto sens.  If the recording is too loud or soft use then sens 1L and/or sens 2R as well as the playback volume to adjust.

Let us know how you make out.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

Thanks for fast reply! Luckily, the microphone is not fried, it still works well with the motherboad mic input. Well, the integrated souncard has lots of noise, so I'd rather use the Quad capture.
But no luck, I tried many different audio software, goldwave, audacity etc. and changed the settings and input channels. Maybe this microphone has wrong pinout.. I will get a XLR adapter and try again.

Ah, the JACK connector does not have Phantom -voltage, only XLR pins have Phantom. I measured it with multimeter. Allso found an adapter from RODE. So this kind of condenser microphone can never work with Quad capture, using 3.5mm jack to 6.6mm jack adapter. Condenser mic requires the Phantom voltage, cause it is passive component.
So either use an external microphone preamplifier or the XLR to Jack adapter.
