Mic talk

My friend in Nashville told me a very good low priced mic for demo's is the Audio Technica AT 4040.  It is reg $495.00, but Sweetwater has it for $299.00 today.

I know everyone has a favorite, but does anyone know anything about this mic?

Thank you in advance.

This should be in the hardware section really, but, on saying that, AT do make some quite nice microphones.

We have been getting great results from our AT4033 for over a decade and it really shines on female vocals.

The thing is with mics, what suits one voice might not suit another - you really have to suck it & see.

Try and get a deal where you can return it if you don't like it.

Sweetwater will take it back if it doesn't suit you. AT mics are generally a good price/performance value, and I can't think of any other LDC for $300 to suggest over the 4040.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
