FWIW I've had Windows 10 1809 installed on my studio PC's since it first came out, and on my laptop for the past month. I've not had any issues so far.

Ditto! Although as usual WIN10 did reset some of my preferences. Irritatingly sneaky at times!

My understanding is that it only happens when you "check for updates" so unless you're an early adopter (I can't remember what the term is) you won't get it if you just wait for Microsoft to do the general availability push...

They're pushing it now. It installed on my PC this week. So far, no obvious problems except it turned back on some settings I had disabled.
A few of my songs SONAR Platinum, Cakewalk by BandLab, Windows 10, Focusrite Scarlett 6i6.

On the other hand, I just accepted a Windows update, and now I'm still on 1803. I guess my time will come.

If you want to force the update, you can download the Windows 10 Update Assistant and run this to kick off the 1809 update: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 (click on the Update Now button to download ) I did this on my laptop just over a month ago, as it wasn't appearing during regular manual update checks.

I'm in IT management, and I've pushed it out to close to 500 desktops so far, with no issues thus far. The scary looking issues at launch appear to be behind us. Microsoft does it's fair share of screwing up, but I think 1809 is safe now.

Same here. I'm in the UK. Are some parts of the world, e.g. USA, given updates first? Just curious about how rollouts happen.

Microsoft has generated a block list (since the problems they had with earlier 1809 rollouts) of hardware that they know is incompatible with 1809. If your hardware is on that block list you will not be updated at this time.
Note on upgrade blocks: Blocking the availability of a Windows 10 feature update to devices we know will experience issues is a key aspect of our controlled rollout approach to provide users with a great update experience. We decide what to block based on user impact from closely monitoring feedback and device diagnostics. Blocking issues are a high priority for us to address as quickly as possible. If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we will not install the update until that issue is resolved, even if you “Check for updates”. We do this so that you avoid encountering any known problems.
Good for MS. It only took them 3 tries to figure that out. If you feel lucky, and wish to be an unpaid beta tester, at least make a fresh system image backup before you update. When I call it beta, that is meant to be tongue in cheek, not literal. But this release is still not designated "Semi-Annual Channel" for a reason. That means business customers are not really encouraged to update yet, until it is deemed fit for consumption. However, YMMV. I am mostly puzzled by many DAW users feeling compelled to be on the bleeding edge anyway. What's the rush?
