Midi Automation Envelopes

Hi Guys,

I posted this in the get started section, didn't receive a definitive answer and was referred over here.  Hopefully somebody who knows X1 well can answer this.

Is it possible to draw an automation envelope for a midi cc control for one of my hardware synths? I would like to be able to simply draw a curve that controls the cutoff on my roland gaia synth.  How would I go about doing this or am I stuck editing the midi in the midi clips controller pane?  I am trying to do this on a midi track that has the in/out set to the gaia. I can't seem to figure it out...Sonar is quite different then flstudio heh :)

Also while Im at it, is there a way to re-assign shift + D to maximizing the dock that doesn't require me to reset up all of my key bindings? I haven't been able to locate the function in key bindings.

Thanks!

    For MIDI CC automation:

Click the Edit Filter dropdown in the MIDI track header (likely defaulted to "Clips"), go to Automation, and choose one of the standard controller envelopes, or click MIDI, and specify the controller type/number you want to use.

Then write enable the track (W button) to draw one in real time as the project plays, and/or edit it manually.

See the User Guide for more info.

Not sure about changing the Dock keybinding right offhand.

Awesome thanks Brundlefly, I have tried that but now that i know it works that way, I will give it another go as I must have been doing something incorrectly.

The function is called Maximize/Restore the Tabbed View but unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's available in the function list. Looks like another bug.

If you already had done some Controller lane edits or recording it would likely be a good idea to delete those before doing the automation envelope as you will be getting CC input from 2 sources, the Automation envelope and the CC midi lane.   I do not know if one takes precedence over the other and if so which one would or if they will both put input in and create a real mess.  Maybe that is something else Scott could answer.

    This outcome gets my vote.
