Midi Buffer issues? Maybe?

Hi
I posted a while back about the motorboating effect. I raised the buffer, etc, etc. But it happens even with just 2 instances of kontakt, one dim pro and one kontakt. Not specific to those though. I thought it was my usb interface so I removed it( a cheap edirol). But it's back.
I am using a midisport 2X2 anniversary strictly for my AxeFX Ultra and my midi foot controller. I use the midi in and outs on my Layla 3G for Sonar. I am wondering if it's just too many midi drivers installed on my system. According to the register I have 9? Named midi 1, midi 2, etc. Seems like a lot to me Does anyone think this may be my issue?
I remember years back seeing an app that searched and found all your midi drivers on your PC and gave info about each. Anyone remember that or know one?
I have driver viewx64 which shows you "all" drivers installed (159 in my case)
Anyway, I am thinking my issue is not buffers. Maybe it's time for a clean install. It's been 1 1/2 years.
Thanks Folks

well did you have older midi things installed that didn't remove the drivers? see what you find with http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner the registry tab.. and rescan till it finds 1 or zero.. reboot. there is a thing on the m-audio site to clean out midi devices BUT I'm assuning it's getting the list from device manager .. http://www.m-audio.com/in...8&o=%20Windows+XP&f=84
