Midi Clip Question

have a midi clip thats 5 beats and change long.. how can I scrunch that down to 5 beats even, keeping the same pattern and amount of notes, but making it play nice and neat on the timeline??

I assume I make it a midi groove clip--but where/how do I stick 5.2 beats into a nice even 5 beats??

MIDI follows the project tempo, so it should be following the timeline automatically

imported some midi clips from drum machine.. trying to make the into groove clips that are exactly 2 or 4 beats long.. so they line up on the grid perfectly

First, you could try quantizing the notes, often followed by a little tweaking.  That may change the relative note timings in a way ypo dont want.

Another way is to use Process/Length.  Calculate 5/5.2=>96.15%.  Unfortunately, the Scale function will scale only to integer values, so you are stuck with 96. That will scale (stretch) note on and off by 96% and give you close to 5 beats.  So maybe do that and tweak a little.

Let us know how thi works out.

I cut the long clips down to 2 beats each..  then saved as Midi File.  Then I imported them with SNAP TO GRID on, and groove clipped them.

I will need to learn to work with Audio Snap to make cleaner loops I guess.
