Yes, as stated above I know what MPC's are...based on Roger Linn's Linn-Drum Sequencer (i.e., programmable drum machine)...

I will keep this thread updated with my findings. It's funny, I've been tempted by Cake's offer to upgrade to Sonar 5 SE for $149. But just for fun I re-examined Cake's product page for Sonar 4 Home Studio, as well as read some reviews on the internet. What I've decided is that Sonar 4 Home Studio (and even more the XL version), is a DEEP piece of software. For a beginner to computer-based recording it is the perfect training vehicle. Like I've said, I could probably spend the rest of this year with it before I've exhausted all of its possibilities and thus be ready to move to Sonar 5.

So I need to 1) Spend alot less time on this forum, except for discussing issues directly related to my usage of S4HS, and 2) Get focused on learning the program, step by step, precept upon precept, using my "bible", "Sonar 4 Power" by Scott Garrigus.

Most likely I could have discovered the remedy much faster if I knew the program better. So that is my goal for the forseeable future, 3-6 months: LEARN SONAR 4 HOME STUDIO. Forget about what's coming down the pike, i.e. Acid Pro 6, DP5, all of the myriad plug-ins, Rapture, the next version of Cubase, Logic, Sonar, whatever. It's just too much, and too much time spent browsing product web pages. I should be spending that time learning S4HS.

Will check in from time to time, and I continue to appreciate greatly all of your help!
