Midi Keyboard Problems....

I finally have gotten a midi plug. Now I'm trying to figure out how can you hook it up to cakewalk sonar and make the keyboard play within the software. What I'm trying to say is. I've hooked it up. Now, when I play the keyboard within cakewalk, the sounds play on my midi keyboard. But how do you play the midi keyboard with the sounds transferring to the software. Like how do you play with the sounds of Dimension Pro on my midi keyboard instead of the keyboard within Cakewalk?

Study the tutorial on using soft synths. Open Synth Rack view and Add the Cakewalk TTS-1 or Dimension Pro for example. This will load the synth and create the necessary MIDI and Audio tracks. Using the Track Settings, make sure that they MIDI input is routed from your MIDI interface to the input of the softsynth. Make sure the Audio track Output is set to Master. Load a sound into the softsynth and you should be good to go. THe tutorial on Mixing digital audio will tell you how to Mix and Export your audio as a wav file.

After viewing several tutorials, this thing still has not connected.  Whats wrong with my keyboard? Is it my cable or what.

Or what. Read the manual/help file. Make sure everything is communicating on the same MIDI channel - that's easy to miss. Spend some time with the documentation and you'll be good to go.
