Midi bummer

My RME has 2 midi inputs but this week one of the two stopped working.

So I bought a Roland UM One midi USB interface.
https://www.roland.com/us/products/um-one/

Sometimes, when I plug it in it works for a few minutes.

Then, for some reason, it will stop working. Sometimes, when I click the record enable it will not light red on the midi track.

The obvious thought is that I can't use a USB Midi Device along with my RME UCX, but I do use a keyboard with a USB Midi output and that works fine.  I really like using my fcb1010 pedal board long with my Roland GR20 when I play. I don't want to have to buy a new RME b/c one of the midi ports went bad.

Thoughts?

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

You should be able to use any USB MIDI interfaces as well as the RME’s audio and MIDI functions without problems.

As for MIDI interfaces, MOTU seem solid. I’ve been using one of their interfaces for several years. I’ve found M-Audio less reliable, at least in Windows. The M-Audio interface I had before the MOTU tends to scramble sysex for some reason.

    Sonar Platinum 64bit, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, I7 3770K Ivybridge, 16GB Ram, Gigabyte Z77-D3H m/board,
ATI 7750 graphics+ 1GB RAM, 2xIntel 520 series 220GB SSDs, 1 TB Samsung F3 + 1 TB WD HDDs, Seasonic fanless 460W psu, RME Fireface UFX, Focusrite Octopre.
Assorted real synths, guitars, mandolins, diatonic accordions, percussion, fx and other stuff.

The motu stuff looks good, but it's more than I can afford right this minute. I'll wait a bit and just use one device at a time for a while.

i'd send the rme in for service,
and deal with that, especially if it worked proper before.
