Midi latency

Hello, I am using Sonar X3 to record some songs. I am finding that when I record anything with Midi it sounds fine when I am recording the actual performance but after when I go to play it back and listen to it in the mix my midi performance is lagging behind and I have to perform some heavy Quantize to line things up and that different parts of the performance need different amounts of quantizing.
I used a Roland TD30 kits to record some drum parts with Addictive drums 2 and it was very badly off when I played back the performance but while I recorded the performance everything sounded great.
Is this normal or do I possibly have some settings that need to be tweaked? My drummer has recorded on a Pro Tools system he said and never had this experience so I started wondering what am I doing wrong.
Any help or tips are greatly appreciated.
Kevin

What size are your MIDI prepare buffers in Preferences? you might want to try taking them to 512 instead of the default 256 see if that helps.

What audio interface, driver mode and buffer size?

Is that interface set as both Playback and Record Timing Master in Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings?

Are any other clock sources or A/D interfaces involved in the hardware setup?

Are you monitoring the Addictive Drums output from SONAR while performing or direct-monitoring the TD-30 module?

How late is the MIDI against the timeline on average in milliseconds before you correct it?

Do you by any chance have a non-zero Timing Offset set under Sync and Caching in Audio preferences?
