Midi output problems

Recently I bought a Roland Juno Gi keyboard which came with Sonar Le 8.5. I am new to both of these products.

I am having an issue with the channel selection and insturment list. I have imported the Live Set list for all of the channels into Sonar but when I play back the midi tracks it only plays the bank and patch that is chosen on Channel 1. When I chose a different channel besides Channel 1 it only plays a piano sound despite chosing an organ bank and patch in the drop down list.

I have even cloned the track and set it to a different channel and only get a piano sound.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

This sounds like a problem at the Juno end.  You need to be in "Patch" mode to respond to all 16 MIDI channels, and it sounds like you are in "Performance" mode.

Advanced tip:  You can change modes on the keyboard from inside SONAR by sending SYSEX messages.  Look up in your JUNO manual (usually in a MIDI Implementation section) what the sysex codes are to set modes.  Then use the sysex editor in SONAR to create and save sysex files (one for "Set Performance Mode" and one for "Set Patch Mode").  Now for each SONAR file you write you can set the SYSEX to send your file before the song starts, automatically switching the keyboard to your desired mode.

That sort of sounds like it's playing back via a soft synth in the DAW.
Do you have it set up to send the MIDI instructions back out to the Juno?
It looks like there's a very good instruction manual on Roland's site.
Remember that MIDI is just instructions that have to be sent to a software or hardware synth to convert them to audio.
