Midi - take lane workflow
I posted the other day about not being able to use the PRV after loop recording multiple drum takes .
The problem was that all the takes show up in the PRV rather than being treated a different tracks. In hindsight I guess that makes sense. I found the inline PRV to fiddly to use on each take.
So........ I went away and did some head scratching as to how I could best utilise the take lanes and loop recording midi.
What I have come up with is this.
1st I had to accept that I would leave all midi editing until last thing rather than trying to edit the midi in the lanes.
So, I have found that comping the takes using Cntl+mute tool allows me to piece together takes until I have the takes as I want them . For those that don't know this allows you to highlight the take you want whilst muting all other takes in the same time frame.
Once I have the takes sounding as I wanted I then bounced the midi giving me one midi track.
Now that I have the midi as 1 track with no lanes I then open the PRV to edit the midi timing etc.
This workflow may seem obvious to some but it left me head scratching. Hopefully this method may help someone else.
NB. After bouncing I found I was left with lots of empty lanes, I'm not sure if this is expected or a bug. To me it would make sense for the empty lanes to be deleted after bouncing.
