Migrating Sonar 7 studio projects to X1 Producer

I am upgrading from Sonar 7 Studio to X1 Producer. I would like to know what is the recommended way to perform this upgrade.

1. Should i Uninstall Sonar 7 - Install X1  or
2. Leave Sonar 7 as is and install X1 on the same location
3. Can I have both sonar 7 studio and X1 producer  on the same box?
4. Will my Sonar 7 projects open up as is on X1 (given that my plugin folder is left undisturbed).

Please advice.

Dont uninstall sonar 7. Yes you can have both. You can have all the versions of sonar on your pc.

Your plugins can move locations. Just be sure to do a vst scan to the new location upon your X1 install

Your SONAR 7 projects will open OK in X1. However, once you save them in X1 you may be committed to keep working on them in X1 from then on.

I'll second CJ's advice to keep 7 installed, and only move existing projects to X1 if you need some X1-specific feature. Otherwise, leave them in S7 format and bring them up in S7 if you need to work on them. There is no benefit to porting completed projects to X1.

While learning X1, I made a copy of a large completed SONAR 8 project and worked on that in X1, leaving the original project alone.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
