Migrating linked MIDI clips to another project without losing the link?

I've known this for a long time but maybe someone here knows a better workaround than mine.

If I open two projects and copy linked clips from one project to another, the link gets unlinked.
My workaround has been to give different colors to different linked groups (which is what I always do whether I need to migrate the clips or not) and after migrating the clips I just recreated the same link groups by looking at the colors to find out which clips were linked in the original project and then replace the unlinked clips with new linked clips (hope this makes sense).

I need to migrate many linked clips in old projects to my latest project template so it would really be nice if the links didn't get unlinked or they could be easily re-linked.

Thanks

Didn't realize there's a similar feature called Clip Group (ex-Selection Group). Looks like I'm going to use this feature a lot from now.
